Friday Things #504
1. My sweet little elf 🩷
2. The kids loved Christmas hat day at school this week, as well as pajama day, and all of the other fun festivities and parties that have been going on, and everyone is very excited to be on break!
3. I haven’t done any knitting in months; not since I finished a scarf during one of Dominic’s hospital stays back in the spring, but I got the urge last weekend, so I ordered some chunky yarn and am hoping to make a hat over the break.
4. I’m not sure if I’ve mentioned these before, but these kids chopsticks are so helpful when we order sushi (which isn’t very often), they help the kids place their fingers in the correct spots and reduces any frustration. The kids love them!
5. A great perspective >>
Musician and entrepreneur Derek Sivers on how to handle doubts:
“If you’re in doubt about something that’s not in your life, try it. Things are so different in practice versus in theory. The only way to know is to experience it yourself. … Err on the side of yes. Try it. If it was a mistake, at least you’ll know first-hand, instead of always wondering.
If you’re in doubt about something that’s in your life already, get rid of it. Not just things, this goes for identities, habits, goals, relationships, technology, and anything else. Default to not having it, then see how you do without. … Err on the side of no. Get rid of it. Start with a clean slate. If it was a mistake, you’ll get it back with a renewed enthusiasm.”
6. The kids are soooo excited to make cut out sugar cookies! I’ve been in love with this recipe for years – no softening butter and no chilling dough, plus they hold their shape and are super soft. The absolute unicorn of cut out cookie recipes!
7. Someone last week shared this link with me and it’s full of wonderful book ideas! >> 100 Clean Books Still Worth Reading
8. We finished watching The Crown this week; I thought the way they ended it was phenomenal. Now we’re watching Who’s Erin Carter? on Netflix; loving it so far!
9. What older (as in, it’s done airing) show would you completely rewatch from the beginning?
10. TGIF! Wishing you a peaceful, joyous, and Merry Christmas! ❤️
Didn’t get a chance to read until after
Christmas. Hope yours was nice. I would watch Sanditon and Downton Abbey along with Poldark and Victoria
I am stopping by to wish you and your family a Merry Christmas. I also want to thank you for mentioning the LEVOIT Humidifiers. I purchased the more expensive one and I love, love, love it. I have never had a humidifier that is so fast and easy to clean. I am using demineralizer capsules in it instead of distilled water.
Merry Christmas to you and your sweet family. It is wonderful to see Dominic thriving; may it always be so. As for series I’d watch over again: Sanditon, The Paradise, Broadchurch, Derry Girls and Veep. Loved every one.
Merry Christmas and a Happy, Healthy New Year
Friday Night Lights. Merry Christmas to you and your family!!
Loved the quote by Derek Severs! Good words to live by! Also loved the book list, but here is another that you must read if you love an epic story. It’s available on Kindle: The Last Green Valley, by Mark Sullivan (Montana Author, yay, since I live in Montana) it’s an amazing story that just brought me tears on about three different levels and it’s a beautiful story of perseverance, family love and constantly looking and doing what needs to be done to keep moving forward.
Praise God about Dominic’s health! 🙏 Thank you so much for sharing the sugar cookie recipe and book recommendations . Much appreciated!!! 🎄💕
I would rewatch Parenthood! Seeing the actors from that series on other things always makes me nostalgic for that series.
Merry Christmas to your family 🌲
Older shows? Doc Martin. My Life on Mars. George Gently. Miss Fisher’s Mysteries. The Royal *about the hospital, not about the Royal family*. And, if you haven’t watched Call the Midwife or All Creatures Great and Small, great currently produced shows about life in the not so distant past.
I LOVE Doc Martin.
Wishing you and your beautiful family a very Merry Christmas!❤🎄🎁
From only a year ago is Diplomat. Love it!!! Another one we watched when we were home during the pandemic was Gray’s anatomy.
Only 2 seasons, but worth watching and re-watching was The Bear.
I forgot to add Gilmore girls!!
Merry Christmas!
Loved the picture of Isabelle to start your update ….and the puppy to end it😍😍😍
Merry Christmas to you & your family….
Blessings to you all in the New Year!!
Merry Christmas, Michelle!
We have enjoyed Frazier, and now are watching Monk. It’s funny and quirky.
OMG This season of The Crown is sooo well done! I have loved it all but these last 6 episodes are so so good…
I would watch The Wire again and plan on it sometime soon.
Merry Christmas to you and your family ❤️

thirtysomething and Sisters:) I have watched both series from start to finish many times.
Merry Christmas! Thank you for all of the wonderful recipes you have shared with your readers through the years.
If I had to rewatch a show that has ended, it would most definitely be Vikings.
Oh, my , this post was filled with goodies, and topped off with the sweetest pictures. Love the chopsticks, may get some for myself since I am not coordinated enough to use the grownup ones!,,🤣
Keeping the quote from Dereck Sivers- I really need that nudge. It is. Not lecturing nor condesending. Thank you. Perfect timing for the sugar cookie recipe, too. Copying it while I am writing this .
Wishing your beautiful Fanily the best Christmas Ever and many blessings for the new year. I do hope you are going to take a break over the holiday to relax and enjoy family time.
Old series:
– Nero Wolfe with Timothy Hutton
– Pie in the Sky (BBC I think)
