Friday Things #599

1. Dominic turned 10 last weekend! Celebrating him brought such joy to my heart after what he has been through the past year. His resilience, energy, and joy in all that he does is such a blessing to watch. Afrer we ate this cake, he played in back-to-back hockey games 💪🏻
2. He is now finishing up an inpatient week for a cycle of immunotherapy. He continues to do well and bounces back fairly quickly once we’re back home.
3. AND Judith turned 10 last weekend, too! They are birthday soulmates :) We’ve really been trying to love on her extra hard since we lost Duke.

4. If you are looking for gifts for 10-year-old boys, these were all a hit with him:
- Nexus Prime Transformer (he’s still very into Transformers!)
- Porche 911 Rexy Lego (I did not know who/what “Rexy” was, but my boys do!)
- He-Man Sword of Power 🤩
- KiwiCo Tinker Crate Monthly Engineering Kits
5. THIS (from James Clear)! I drastically edited my Instagram feed, and it’s done wonders!
“Your mind will follow whatever you feed it.
Want better thoughts? Consume better things.”
6. I’m currently craving rice krispie treats… what about you??
7. Speaking of desserts, I made my chocolate chip scones for my mom’s birthday a couple of weeks ago, but I’ve been wanting to play around with a version of dark chocolate and pecan scones. Ina Garten has a recipe, but I want to play around with it a bit. Do you have a favorite scone flavor?
8. I am so happy that hockey is back in full swing! Last weekend we went to Mass on Saturday, came home and had pizza for dinner, then watched the Pens game. It reminded me so much of being a kid… a lot of weekends in elementary school, we did church on Saturday evening, then home to watch a hockey game. It feels so cozy.
9. We’ve been watching the new season of Lioness (Paramount+); we both LOVE it!
10. TGIF! Wishing you a wonderfully cozy weekend!

Works, though the advice gets vague right where it matters most. Emily Lopez
Happy Birthday to Dominic and Judith, also. FYI! Your chocolate chip scones were what lead me to your blog many many years ago. My daughter has an egg allergy, so I was thrilled to find they were egg-free. I’ve enjoyed and shared many of your recipes thru the years. Wishing continued health and happiness to everyone!
HAPPY BIRTHDAYS to Dominic AND Judith!! Both in double digits!! So sweet that they share this!!
Thankful for Dominic’s continued progress and WOW energy for hockey and all the things he loves to do!!
I just finished ‘listening’ to The Measure and The Poppy Fields, both by Nikki Erlick. Completely different than anything I’ve ever read. Might want to try them. Now I’m reading The Women by Kristin Hannah!! Love it!!
