Box decorated in blue and pink for gender reveal.

It’s gender reveal time for baby #3! (Do you have an inkling one way or the other?)

The last two times we’ve had to wait until the 20 week ultrasound to find out the sex, but this time I took advantage of NIPT testing. It’s a blood draw that separates out the baby’s DNA and screens for chromosome abnormalities early in pregnancy, and it also reads the sex chromosome, so that information is available if you want it. Most importantly, all of the screenings came back normal, and we took advantage of finding out the sex early!

We knew for a few weeks before we spilled the beans, since everyone had been passing around this crazy cold and we hadn’t all gotten together in nearly a month. Needless to say, everyone had been on pins and needles waiting to hear the news.

I don’t think we did any official “gender reveal” thing when I was pregnant with Joseph, we just called our parents with the news. With Dominic, I made cupcakes with a blue frosting filling so everyone had to bite into them to find out. This time around, my husband devised a scavenger hunt which was seriously SO MUCH FUN. (I wrote those cards, but he came up with all of the clues… again, he has all of the creative genes in our marriage!)

Scavenger hunt clues for gender reveal party.

We didn’t go too crazy with it – we had seven clues – but everyone loved it, and we loved making them work for the answer, ha!

The last clue led everyone to the oven, where I hid a box with the news…

I won’t make you wait any longer…

IT’S A….

Gender Reveal - It's a Girl!

GIRL!

I was shocked because I was pretty sure that I was destined to be a mom of boys! We’re very excited to welcome this little lady to our family in another five months or so, to see her and meet her. I feel like that’s the biggest anticipation of pregnancy for me… what will they look like? What will their little personality be like? It’s so exhilirating to see these babies become little people of their own :)

Thank you so much for sharing in our excitement and joy as we grow our family!
