Introducing the BEB Monthly Bake-Along!
It’s a brand new year and I’m introducing a brand new series here on Brown Eyed Baker that’s going to kick off this coming Monday, January 7th… the BEB Bake-Along!
This is exactly what it sounds like – each month we are going to bake right along with each other! I’ll select a recipe and post it on the first Monday of the month, along with a video and tons of tips, and invite you to try it at some point throughout the month and share your results!
MORE DETAILS
- I’ve selected recipes that are in the intermediate level to help us stretch our baking muscles together. Doing monthly baking challenges was one of the catalysts for me to start blogging in the first place (shout out to the original Daring Baker challenges!), and I loved the little bit of a challenge they provided, so I’m hoping to pay that forward with these monthly bake-alongs.
- I would love, love, love for you to share your results so I can see them! If you’re on Instagram, tag #BEBbakealong so I can see them (you can also follow @thebrowneyedbaker while you’re at it!); and if you hang out on Facebook, share your photos to the Brown Eyed Baker Friends Facebook group. If you don’t do social, snap a picture and email me! :)
- I’m going to try (key word “try” with unpredictable children!) to post some live videos on Instagram of me making the recipe throughout the month so you can see it happening in real-time! I’ll be sure to let you know when those are going to happen so you can check it out :)
- I’ll also be sharing your photos on Instagram and Facebook, so use that hashtag when you share on your accounts so I can see them and share with others!
- Most of all, I want this to be FUN! I want us to rally around each other and tackle something together, help each other troubleshoot, and celebrate everyone’s kitchen successes.
As I said, I’ll be posting the new BEB Bake-Along recipes on the first Monday of every month, but I’ll also be sending along a few specific Bake-Along emails throughout the month with reminders, encouragement, and troubleshooting tips, as well as an end-of-the-month wrap up where I’ll feature reader photos and feedback (and possibly some giveaway opportunities!). If you’re not already signed up to receive emails from Brown Eyed Baker, sign up below:
(Don’t worry, I won’t spam you and it’s totally free!)
I am SO excited to kick off this baking series with you, and can’t wait to see your creations!
Be sure to check back on Monday for January’s recipe!
I made the Gougeres exactly as directed using King Arthur All-Purpose flour. They turned out excellent. Better than expected.
This is unrelated to the bae along although I love the idea and will follow. I am making the cupcakes for my daughters wedding. She loves my cupcakes and they are always your recipes. However my son in law to be loves marble cake. I’ve seen other recipes but I trust your option and I love your vanilla and chocolate cupcakes. Do you have an option on the best way to do a marble cupcake?
This sounds like fun – I am just not sure how to sign up for the emails for the baking challenge?
Hi,
I hope i can do this! Bake along with you. I’d love too, only i’ve had a sort of an accident. I did fall on both my knees and they’re bruisend and very sore just as my ankle. The fysiotherapist tape-deck my ankle today but i also broke 2 little bones just above my toes (the last 2) and that has to heal on its own. So standing up and walking is an issue at the moment. I hope it heal quickly so that i can join you in baking! I never made this be4, so i’d looooove to try it. I hope and pray i can do this on time for this months challenge. I filled my email adress in but if you don’t recieve a picture from me, you’ll know why. I just want to let you know. Thanks for reading and i hope i can bake along with you too!
Till next time,
Marja
This is something I’ve had bookmarked for so long to try. Thank you for the motivation and hand-holding!!
Oh I’m so excited to try this baking challenge! This sounds like a lot of fun. I love your blog and I love baking!
I’m already subscribed to your newsletter and get email updates. Do I have to subscribe again to get the monthly Bake-Along stuff? I’m confused because the recent emails are saying “If you want to receive emails for the bake-along, click here.” But then when we click it, just brings us to the newsletter that has three different places to enter email addresses but nothing specific to the bakealong. Please confirm.
I’m so excited for this! What a great idea!
😊Wendy from Maryland
This is going to be fun!
Looking forward to trying your recipes! Excited..
I wish I had seen this before I just put a Meyer Lemon Cream Cheese Pound Cake in the oven. I’ll have to save this recipe and come back to it in a few days. :(
So excited to be apart of this!!
I am so excited for the monthly bake along! It will encourage me to bake more and my family will love it.
First time to trythis but sounds like fun.
What a fun challenge! I love love love to bake, but don’t always prioritize time for it. This will be a fun reason to fire up the oven! Sounds like you’re going to help us grow our skills. Thank you in advance for that!
So excited to try the bake-along recipes!!!! I don’t get to try as many of your recipes as I would like, but the ones I have tried are delicious!
Wonderful! I’m very excited.
Your site is a go to for me.
My family and I really enjoy your recipes.
Wedding soup is now in my regular rotation & a Christmas Day must!
I always receive raves when I make it.
Are all of your “baking challenges” chosen already?

So excited to have you join in, Stacey!
What a great idea! I am so excited about this. I’m all for your walnut pillow cookies being part of the bake-along at some point. Those cookies have gotten the better of me . . . but I refuse to give up . . . haha!
Ooooh thank you for the suggestion! I’m due to give that recipe a once-over! :)
This is exciting….many years ago, a person by the name of Martha Dixon has a show on television and she did recipes you could make along with her and it was so much fun. Looking forward to this!
Oh that sounds like fun!!
So excited to bake along with all of your followers!!! Love all of your recipes!!! Happy New Year!!!
Happy New Year, Deborah! Excited to have you join us!
Happy New Year! So excited to bake along. I’ve been wanting to do this, but was never high enough priority to go searching for one and you have graciously brought the opportunity to my inbox. Can’t wait for Monday.
Happy New Year to you, Jeanne! Excited to have you join in!
I’ve never done one of these but I’m excited about this.
So happy!!
This sounds like a really fun idea.
I’m glad you like it, I’m excited!
Interested in what recipes you might have—challenges from other blogs are always fun.!
I hope you’ll enjoy the selections!
This is similar to Sally’s Baking Challenge, which is also done on a monthly basis.
Yes! She does one, so does Tessa from Handle the Heat, Dorothy from Crazy for Crust, and tons of other bloggers. I think it’s a fabulous way to foster community to try new recipes; I’ve finally gotten myself organized enough to offer it this year :)
So fun! I’m excited to try to join in!
So excited to have you join in!
I can’t wait for this to start. I’ve been excited since you announced it as I need a push out of my baking comfort zone.
~ Nonnie
Ahhh I’m so happy to hear this! :)
SO STINKIN’ EXCITED FOR THIS!!!! :-)
WOO! :)
Oooh! This sounds exciting! I often print your recipes, but then never quite get around to making all of them, so this is a brilliant incentive. The videos are fantastic by the way. They help so much. It’ll also be nice to get baking as a group. Can’t wait to get started!
Hi Ruth, I’m so happy to hear the videos have been helpful for you!
