Friday Things
1. Dominic has been just the happiest baby and giving us lots of incredible open-mouthed, wide-eyed smiles, like he couldn’t possibly be more excited about life than at that exact moment. It’s crazy wonderful.
2. A flip seems to have been switched with Joseph, because all of a sudden last week, he got REALLY into watching Sesame Street. We had been putting it on here and there, but he was never interested. Now, he loves it! He dances to the songs and claps when they’re over, he LOVES Elmo (and my aunt got him a talking Elmo for Christmas), and is just captivated by the whole show. It’s actually entertaining for my husband and I, too. Love the spoofs they do on pop culture (like a Cookie Monster re-enactment of “The Hungry Games” HA!).
3. How was your Christmas holiday? Ours was wonderful, spent with lots of family both Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. The boys did great – no meltdowns – and we escaped without having to add TOO many new toys to the overflowing toy box ;-) I shared some photos here if you’re interested!
4. Have you heard of LikeAGlove? Supposedly you put on these “smart” leggings and connect them to an app, they take all of your measurements, then compare them against a database of denim and spit out the best matches for your body. Expensive, but potentially worth it to find a pair of jeans that fit perfectly?
5. Do you have any New Year’s Eve plans? We love staying in, so we’ll be home… I need to work on my snack menu :)
6. Have you heard about the Give Back Box program? I haven’t tried it yet, but plan to in the near future… if you have an empty Amazon shipping box, you can fill it up with stuff you don’t want, seal it and print out a free shipping label, then drop it off at the post office or UPS, or schedule a pickup, and it will go to the nearest participating Goodwill. Genius!
7. Only a couple more weeks until the new Homeland season starts! I’m dying for some new TV, thank goodness! I’m bummed, though, that The Americans isn’t coming back until March.
8. There won’t be a Weekend Dish tomorrow due to the holiday, but it will be back in full swing next Saturday!
9. Wishing you a very Happy New Year! Have a fun and safe weekend!
10. TGIF! Duke is ready to party :)
So New Years 2017 was a brown eyed bakers celebration for my extended family here in Ottawa Canada. I made Hissey Fit dip, that everyone went nuts over, no Hissey Fit cause everyone got some……lol. So delicious, used a crockpot as I was taking the items out and it was wonderful. We also had monkey pizza bread and your sauce which was also a bit hit. And one of our desserts was the maple apple pie. I tweaked it a bit by using 5 apples and 3 pears. Also received rave reviews. So all in all a great Brown eyed baker inspired New Years Day. Thanks so much for all the great recipes. May 2017 be a wonderful year for you and your beautiful family. Keep those recipes coming, my family thanks you….
Dominic is growing up so quickly and is really a sweet looking boy. I’m so glad that Joseph is enjoying Sesame Street -it’s a guilty pleasure for adults ??. Â I don’t know about that jean system…pretty interesting though. I can’t wait for the new season of Homeland to start – especially with how last season ended (though I was really happy with one of the deaths at the end). No big plans for NY’S eve/day – other than food….Christmas was good. Glad that hear the boys were good and no meltdowns during yours.
Our New Years Eve includes Hissy Fit Dip, my first time trying…so excited as is my sister, we both follow you! Â I love love your pictures of the kids and your pup, thank you so much for sharing, always look forward to Friday Things! The best to your family in 2017!
It seems like Dominic is the one who flipped a switch. Â I wasn’t expecting that sweet photo when clicking on BEB just now. Â WOW! It seems like overnight he has grown into a baby from a newborn. Â How sweet and happy he looks. Â And Joseph is precious in his Santa hat and pj’s. Â Duke looks like he’s got some major static cling with which to contend. Â Lovin’ that adorable Golden face of his.
Happy New Year 2017 to you and your lovely family!
P.S. Â We have been enjoying your white chocolate steamers almost every night since Christmas. Â So delicious and ‘soothing’, the perfect evening treat.Â
That’s so cool about the Give Back Box program! I went to the website, and all the items go to Goodwill…which I have down the street from me so it’s kind of a waste of their money for me to ship items rather then just drop them off myself but for people in more rural areas that’s awesome!!
Have you watched Goliath yet? Â It’s on Amazon. Â We loved it.
We haven’t, will have to check it out. Thanks for the suggestion!
Happy New Year! Thank you for making my 2016 more enjoyable. I feel as if I’m part of your family. I love seeing the pictures of your boys — I have four grandsons, and we do travel quite a bit. I miss them, and your pictures of your boys do help. Looking forward to 2017.
