Friday Things

1. A couple of days ago, I toasted marshmallows and put them in frosting, which I used to fill the best chocolate cake I’ve ever made. Recipe coming on Monday… you don’t want to miss this one!
2. Well, we did it! My Chief Culinary Consultant and I bought a house! We found one that we loved last weekend, put in an offer, and now… it’s ours! We still have a bit of time before we close, but today is inspection day, so we’re excited about going to the house this afternoon and taking some measurements for furniture, thinking through my kitchen organization, and all kinds of fun stuff!
3. On that note, if you see your Pinterest page flooded with home decor and finished basement ideas, they’re likely coming from me. I apologize in advance :)
4. Last week, I had a fabulous steak wrap for lunch at Evolution Grille, which is located in Sarver, PA. It was my first time there, and I can’t say enough great things about the restaurant. If you’re in the Pittsburgh area, I highly recommend it. Amazing food and a great atmosphere!
5. If anyone else is a fellow Golden Girls fan, then you’ll love these cookies by Semi Sweet… aren’t they awesome?!

6. I may have said this before, but it bears repeating… I despise deep-fried soft pretzels. Yesterday marked the 3rd restaurant I’ve been to that has soft pretzels as an appetizer on the menu, makes no mention that they are fried, and then they show up at the table deep-fried. Bleh. I just want a normal soft pretzel!
7. Since I’ll have my hands full with moving and getting situated, I won’t be doing any gardening this year (except for some potted plants, of course). However, for those of you that might be interested, there is a great infographic on square foot gardening over on Frugal Dad. A great resource!
8. It’s March Madness! I totally lost track of time and didn’t get around to filling out a bracket before the games started yesterday. I don’t ever follow college basketball, but once I fill out a bracket I love catching some of the games and keeping track of my progress. Who did you pick to win it all this year?
9. Have you seen any good movies lately? I haven’t been to the movies since November, and nothing has been catching my eye on Redbox or OnDemand. Surely, there has to be something worth watching, right?!
10. TGIF! Have a snuggly weekend!

Congrats on the house!!!
Oh my goodness!!!! I am the hugest Golden Girls fan!!! These cookies are adorable! I have every single season of the GG on DVD and can watch them over and over! I I have even said that if I could spend a day with anyone, real or fictional, it would have do be Blanche, Rose, Dorothy and Sophia!!! :)
Congratulations!

So excited about the house. Can’t wait for details. I love Evolution Grill. They have wonderful wine tastings once a month. Check out their website for details.
so excited for you and your other half…congratulations on being a new home owner!!
Congrats on the house! I watched “Butter” on Netflix the other night while my husband was wrapping up some work but he gave up and watched with me because it is so ridiculously funny. I definitely recommend it:)
Toasted marshmallows in a cake?! I can’t wait!!! And I don’t like fried pretzels too. Blech.
My husband and I recently watched the Perks of Being a Wallflower and LOVED it! He also really enjoyed Zero Dark Thirty. Not my kind of movie, but he said it is one of the best he’s seen in awhile.
Huge fan of the Golden Girls, here! Congrats on your new home and hope everything goes smoothly. That is super exciting!
Congrats on your new home and best of luck with moving! Can’t wait for your chocolate cake recipe!

i LOVE LOVE LOVE the golden girls and even better, those cookies look awesome!
Congratulations on the house — what a very exciting time for you!
And I cannot wait for the marshmallow frosting recipe!
My husband and I watched Super 8 a couple of weekends ago on Netflix. His pick, but I actually liked it quite a bit. Kind of a twist on Goonies. Spielberg has his name on it, so it can be bad, right? :)
Home buying—exciting times!!! Enjoy it all…even the stressful parts!
Those cookies—ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!! An engineer by day? He has got to find a release for his creative genius!!
Koalas—AWWWWWW!!
Congrats on the house! Hope everything goes well with the inspection. As for pretzels have you ever tried The Pretzel Shop in the South Side? Always worth the trip. If you are looking for an older movie to watch I recommend Strictly Ballroom which is an Australian flick by Baz Luhrmann (Moulin Rouge!). Funny, great cast and dancing. Looking forward to Monday’s recipe. Have a great weekend.
Hi Terri, I haven’t been to the The Pretzel Shop, but I’ve seen it. I’ll have to be sure to stop the next time I’m in the South Side. Thanks for the recommendation!
Congrats on the House!!! I agree with the above poster on the movie Pitch Perfect – very funny! And I seriously can’t wait for the cake recipe! Woot!!
I could eat those marshmallows right now.
Congrats on the house!!! so happy for you both!
Congratulations on the house purchase!
Congratulations on the new house! I’m excited to hear about this cake.
As far as movies go, “Looper”, “Flight”, and “Wreck-It-Ralph” are all in Redbox and are all worth a go!
I’m looking forward to seeing the frosting recipe. Congratulations on the house! Very exciting!
Congrats on the house! It is so rewarding when you can sit in your own home! That is so awesome!
Can’t wait to see that frosting! And good luck with the inspection. yay for finding a house! :)
Congrats on the new home purchase! So exciting!
As for March Madness….I am rooting for the Maize and Blue…Michigan Wolverines!!! “WE ON!”
Have a great weekend!
Happy spring and what wonderful news on the house purchase, let the home-owning fun begin! Movies: Les Miserables was incredible, Identity Theft, a fun romp. New Tina Fey/Paul Rudd movie comes out this weekend, they are both so good. Looking forward to the chocolate cake with incredible frosting.
Can’t wait to see the chocolate marshmallow cake! Those marshmallows look too good. Congrats on your house! That’s so exciting. Getting a new kitchen is the best part, isn’t it? My husband and I got away for a few days and saw two movies! Snitch was the first, with The Rock, which was decent, but Dead Man Down with Collin Farrell was surprisingly excellent! I went in with low expectations knowing nothing about it, and I loved it!
Congrats on the new house! Moving is kind of the pits, but the upside is that it is a great time to purge and goes perfectly with the fresh start that Spring brings about! How exciting…BTW, I am constantly flooding everyone’s Pinterest with house ideas- even finished basements, and I live in CALI where most of us don’t even HAVE basements! HA! I don’t know if you’ve seen Lawless with Tom Hardy…but YOWSAS! It’s good and he is great!
