Friday Things #514
1. I love the friendship that these two have formed over the last year or two… they’ve become so close and it makes my heart so happy 💙 (This was the morning that Dominic and I were leaving to go to New York a few weeks ago and Joseph was headed off to school.)
2. Next week, Dominic will have an outpatient surgical procedure to remove his central line. This is such a big step for him, and he is SO excited; please keep him in your prayers that the procedure goes well and that he heals easily.
3. Isabelle’s reading has absolutely exploded over the last few months and watching her read is such a joy. And also, how did her legs get so long??!
4. Speaking of reading, when Joseph was in pre-k, his school would send home sight words on index cards every couple of weeks for the kids to practice. We taped them to the wall in the playroom so he could go over them, then as Dominic and Isabelle got older, they wanted to start learning them, too. Well, we realized last weekend that Isabelle clearly knew all the words on that wall and that they could come down. They were up there for over four years, so bittersweet!
5. I finished reading Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and gosh, I know it was a really popular book, but it started slow for me. About halfway through, I thought it was getting good, but then I felt like it jumped the shark, and I just did not care for the last third of the book or the ending. But! I finally started The Women by Kristin Hannah and am already loving it.
6. I can’t believe we’re changing clocks already this weekend! I love how much the kids love the longer days when the weather is nice, but I will say it each and every year – Team Standard Time forever!
7. Love this reminder >> Rest If You Must
8. Saw this in a James Clear newsletter and wanted to save it:
“In theory, consistency is about being disciplined, determined, and unwavering.
In practice, consistency is about being adaptable. Don’t have much time? Scale it down. Don’t have much energy? Do the easy version. Find different ways to show up depending on the circumstances. Let your habits change shape to meet the demands of the day.
Adaptability is the way of consistency.”
9. We finished watching Monsieur Spade and are now watching Reign (Amazon Prime), which is different from our usual British crime drama 😂 but we’re enjoying it.
10. TGIF! This is how Duke looks at me when the kids play downstairs in the basement. He usually heads down there shortly after the stare; I think he feels like there needs to be someone down there supervising, so he takes it upon himself to do it 😍
Duke is the sweetest little guy.
Aww love the picture of Dominic and Joseph so precious – may they always have this bond. Prayers for Dominic – he is definitely a trooper…
Isabella is really growing – how wonderful to have two older brothers
Love the expression on Duke – his aging face so sweet – i wonder if he;s thinking about all those steps down…lol…love how he feels the need to supervise
Saying prayers for Dominic as well as you and family. Safe travels.
love & prayers
This photo brings tears of joy in our hearts to see little Domi looking grrrreat and the big LOVE between the two brothers… LORD BLESS THIS FAMILY!
Duke. 🙌
Prayers for Dominic that all goes well! He’ll be so happy to have that out I’m sure! He’s such a trooper!
Duke is not only beautiful, but sounds like he’s very intelligent also!
Duke is so funny! This made me laugh. Your children and dogs are beautiful, and I enjoy seeing pictures and reading about them. Dominic will be in my prayers.
#10 – I get this same look from my cat when my kids outside and I run in to grab water or something. Guilt trip look like, “excuse me- are you going to leave that little tornado unattended?!” Lol!
You have raised such a beautiful and loving family. I’m so happy that Dominic’s central line is being removed.🙏. Spring ahead tomorrow. I hope Spring is here with no more snow!
Prayers going up for Dominic’s surgery! That is such exciting news that he will be getting his central line out. PROGRESS!!! I hope it will be a smooth surgery and recovery for him. I’m sure it will help that he is so enthusiastic to get it removed!
Prayers for your sweet brave boy Dominic. 🙏🏼 loved The Women and all of her books. Try Marie Benedict if you like historical fiction, she’s a fabulous author. Happy Friday!
I too loved The Women. I never knew about the nurses who sacrificed so much. I was in high school & college when the Vietnam war was happening. I remember sitting in the dorm watching the draft lottery on tv & seeing the expressions on the faces of all the 18 year olds finding out if they were going into battle. No one that I knew was killed, but many guys who came back were mentally traumatized. Too bad our government didn’t learn a lesson from the war. Iraq was another costly mistake.
Hope Dominic’s surgery goes well.
Thank you for all you do. You are blessed with a beautiful family. I will keep Dominic in my prayers. Love all your bread recipes.
so beautiful to see brothers bonding like that what a treasure that is. Wow Isabelle has lovely long legs she is going to be tall could be a model😊Will be praying for Dominic during his procedure he must be so happy to get this done. It is great to see young people reding books it seems to be a lost art these days. I have always loved to read and always have a book going. Nhave you read Kristin Hannah’s “The Four Winds” such a beautiful story couldn’t put it down. Cannot wait for daylight savings time now I can see to drive at night😂😂😂 Have a blessed week end😊🌻
Prayers for Dominic and fast healing. Thanks for the comment about Tomorrow as I’ve seen other comments agreeing with yours. I tried Reign but think it’s insane!!!
Those kiddos are growing like weeds for sure! Such sweet personalities show in so many ways. Prayers for Dominic’s monumental procedure – you must all be so very happy and grateful that this hardware will finally gone! Love the look on Duke’s face – dogs are really very expressive! Blessings to you all.
Prayers for Dominic for sure but I trust St. Rita continues to watch over him as she has for the past two years. I know he will do well and come through this final step like the true Super Boy he is.
Duke is such a handsome older guy. How did his face get so white? I agree that look is one of a guardian who knows what he needs to do…just in case there is a problem.
Have a great weekend. It is finally sunny in the Boston area after what seems like endless
dreary days.
Michelle, Prayers 🙏for Dominic next week and that each day is a blessed day for your beautiful family!
I did not like the Tomorrow book at all. Got 1/3-1/2 way through and stopped. I just wasn’t invested. I loved The Women!
Best of luck Dominic! So happy for you! Continued prayers!
Keeping you in our thoughts and prayers Dominic, such a sweet, strong boy. Sending love all the was from Melbourne, Australia 🩵🙏🤞🙏😘
So happy for Dominic and definitely praying for this brave young man! And prayers for Mom too.
Silly, Michelle!! Duke is CLEARLY saying, “Don’t you want to come down and play, Mom? You’re my premium, number ONE FAVORITE, and I’ll miss you and never really like leaving you out of my sight!!!”
Lots of Love, Duke xoxox
So obvious…. ;)))
🙏🏼for Dominic and strength for Mom.🌷
I’m with you – Standard Time all the way! :)
Book recommendation: “The Frozen River” by Ariel Lawhon.
It’s a really good historical mystery inspired by the 18th century midwife, Martha Ballard.
Will keep Dominic in my prayers, he has come a long way, it just shows how good God is and why praying is so important!
Your boys have a special relationship, that is so sweet and so important. The thought that they will see each other through all of life’s challenges is heartwarming.
I hope you all have a great weekend!
Thinking of Dominic and your entire family. Thank you for your newsletters of hope. May you continue to go from strength to strength.
Praying for Dominic to heal and be past this whole ordeal that he has been through. His smile and strength is an inspiration to everyone. God bless him with continued growth, good health and happiness. God bless you, Michelle, and your family for guiding him through this ordeal and making him feel so loved and safe. ❤️🙏
Prayers galore for Dominic. That photo of your sweet boys hugging brought tears to my eyes. Beautiful and special moments like that are beyond priceless. You gotta soak those in!
Praying for Dominic daily and blessings for all of you. Great pictures!
Prayers every day for Dominic. And for the rest of the family and his medical team. Love the Friday post when we get updated on the children and dogs. Thank you.
