1. Dominic will be having his quarterly scans next week… we are praying his body is still (and remains) disease-free. Thank you for any prayers or good thoughts you can offer up for him!

2. We spent last week kind of getting settled in after our vacation since we left just a couple of days after school was out, we’re sort of finding our summer rhythm. Do you have any structure to your days during the summer, or things you always do? The boys both did a robotics camp this week and loving it! That’s the only week-long thing we had booked for the summer, we’ll have mostly free days from here on out!

3. It has been insanely, ridiculously hot this week, and gosh, the forecast of 6 to 7 straight days in the mid-90s is why summer will never be my favorite season. Looking forward to next week when things will be a bit more reasonable, and we can actually enjoy some outside time!

4. If you’re trying to beat the heat, too, one of my favorite cold summer recipes is frozen hot chocolate!

5. A couple of weeks ago, I saw a reel that Babs posted about using cinnamon and cinnamon sticks to keep fruit flies away, so I tried it when we came back from vacation. I put one by our bananas on the counter and two more cinnamon sticks in the bowl of peaches that I brought home from Costco. Not a single fruit fly!!! I was astonished!

6. If you try to eat high-protein breakfasts and lunches, what are your go-to’s that are quick and relatively easy?

7. I love little nuggets from the James Clear newsletters, and last week’s had two that I saved. This one first:

“How should you measure your days? It’s easy to measure your days in dollars earned or tasks completed, but there are other units of measurement to consider:

  • What would you do today if you wanted to maximize laughter?
  • What would you do today if you wanted to maximize time outside?
  • What would you do today if you wanted to maximize peace of mind?

What unit of measurement serves you best right now?”

8. And then this one:

“Move toward the next thing, not away from the last thing.
Same direction. Completely different energy.”

9. We’ve been watching Pennyworth (on MAX), which is sort of a prequel story to Alfred, Batman’s butler. To me, it feels very James Bond-ish, and my husband and I are both enjoying it!

10. TGIF! I hope you find a great spot to relax this weekend!
