Friday Things #539

1. The kids started back to school this week and it is always so bittersweet! I think towards the end of summer, everyone is ready to get back into a routine, but I always feel a bit sad for them to be gone all day again. They’ve had a great first few days, but boy, they are TIRED!
2. Next week, Dominic and I will head back to New York for his quarterly scans, as well as neuroblastoma vaccine injection #7. It’s been one year since he was declared in remission; we are praying for another set of clear scans and continued remission.
3. When putting on gloves to play doctor is totally normal because you’ve spent so much time at clinics and hospitals with your brother…

4. Isabelle was the only one who needed a replacement water bottle before school started, and I gave this kids Hydroflask a try… she loves it, and I like that it holds more water than most kids’ water bottles (it’s 20 ounces). AND that it comes with a silicone boot so you don’t hear it hitting the table and making tons of noise.
5. A lot of good food for thought >> The Stress We Needlessly Bring Into Our Lives
6. I am SO READY for fall weather… we’ve had yet another week in the 90s here, and I am completely over it. Give me the full-time jeans and sweater/sweatshirt weather.
7. And also soup and chili weather! Though I equate chicken noodle soup with kids being sick (I’m sure it’s coming now that school is back in session!), I love the cozy fall favorites like chili, chicken and dumplings, and beef stew.
8. And on that same note, I feel like I’m ready to start on a new crochet or knitting project once the weather cools down. I have all of the yarn and pattern for this knit striped afghan (though in a different colorway – richer blues and berries), so that might be my fall/winter project.
9. We watched the new Beverly Hills Cop movie on a whim the other night and laughed so hard!
10. TGIF! That sweet puppy face through the morning mist…

So thrilled all went well for Dominic! God bless your beautiful family. Prayers continue!!❤️🙏

God bless Dominic and I pray all went well! God bless you and your wonderful family.
What a pretty yard you have! Praying Dominic’s scans go well!
Praying for Dominic!
I just made your bookmarked double chocolate zucchini muffins. These are delicious, a very good recipe. They are super tasty and very moist.
Prayers for Dominic’s scans.❤🙏 Very good article regarding stress. Enjoy the Labor Day weekend!
Continued prayers for Dominic and your sweet family 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Happy Labor Dayweekend to youand your family.
I continue to pray for Dominic to remain in remission and trust his upcomin scans will offer great news.
That Aaghan patttern is gorgeous. I knid of like the idea of a kit arriving every few weeks.
I would chose differnt colors and there does not seem to be an option to do that. Maybe you are just follwing the pattern on your own and have not bought into the kit delivery option.
said, thanks for another cheery Friday Things post.
Apologies for all the spelling and assorted other post mistakes. Guess I am just not paying attention today!
Michelle, you have some hairy forearms! 🙃
Continued prayers for Dominic and your entire family! Can’t wait for fall to make your chicken and dumplings again. BEST dinner ever! Sending you much love!
Prayers for Dominic every day.
Hello little Dominic,
.. from lands and oceans away, my prayers follow you for a full and speedy recovery…
Don’t unpack your sweaters just yet. The National Weather Service is predicting unseasonably warm temperatures through NOVEMBER.
Definitely not surprised given how insanely hot this summer has been!
Did you join that kit club? It’s a beautiful blanket. I’m not a great knitter though. Have you made something through Annie’s before? Inquiring minds…😉
I did! I’ve done two other crochet blankets through them… the block afghan (in greys) and the striped afghan (in the Christmas colors).
Prayers for Dominic!
You always make me smile on Friday mornings with pictures of your happy children. I love Dr. Isabelle’s outfit, by the way. I am so ready for sweater and sweatshirt weather, too. But here in the south, it is a least another month away. Those fall soups and stew re pies are so tempting. The article on stress is a great reminder to slow down, set your own priorities for you and your family. Today’s technology has not made life easier p, but added to the stress of always being connected and feeling obligated to instantly respond—-sometimes you just have to let it go!
Happy weekend, best wishes for a great school year and prayers for good news on test results.
Prayers and best wishes for Dominic!
Great pictures! That afghan is so pretty. Maybe someday I will pick up knitting and crocheting again. It has been decades. Praying for good news and continued good health for Dominic and all of your family.
Isabelle suddenly looks so grown up in that first picture! I can’t believe how kids change so fast.
Prayers for good news for Dominic’s hospital visit.
