Friday Things #541

1. Joseph had his tonsils and adenoids removed on Wednesday (and he also got new glasses!)… the procedure went smoothly, no issues. He is very, very uncomfortable, but handling everything okay. We’re staying on top of the med schedule and making sure he stays hydrated and has cold liquids. So very proud of him!
2. My little mini-me (she came downstairs one morning in black leggings and her Band of Parents sweatshirt saying she wanted to match me) :)

3. A great little nugget from the most recent James Clear newsletter:
“Two years, not two months.
The visible progress you’re hoping for usually comes slower than you’d like. Even with consistent effort it can take a long time before progress feels significant. It might be a year of writing and editing before the book really starts to come together. You may need two years of recovery from a major injury before you notice just how far you’ve come. It may take two years of yoga before you realize how flexible you have become.
Take a deep breath, stop worrying about immediate results, and settle into a nice routine.”
4. You know I love the Built protein bars, and they recently released a new “puff” flavor – salted caramel. They were kind enough to send me a few samples so I could try them and oh my goodness, they are going to rival the chocolate chip cookie dough chunk puff for my favorite flavor. You can get them on Amazon – highly, highly recommend!!
5. Great article (and it’s not just about buying material goods) >> Mindful Consumption: Making Intentional Choices
6. ‘Tis the season for one of the most popular fall recipes here – homemade salted caramel sauce! Be prepared to drizzle it on everything and eat it by the spoonful!
7. I finished reading The God of the Woods this week and it was SO GOOD. I couldn’t put it down. I’m trying to decide on my next book; it’s been awhile since I’ve read an Emily Henry, so I might grab People We Meet on Vacation – I haven’t read that one yet. What are you reading right now?
8. Everyone in our house is VERY ready for hockey season to get underway! We have been enjoying a lot of good college football the last couple of weeks; some really fun games to watch.
9. This past week, we watched Gracepoint; it’s an American remake of Broadchurch, which was one of the very first British crime shows we watched that really got us into that genre of TV!
10. TGIF! Have a cozy night!

I just started The Hotel Nantucket by Elin Hilderbrand-good so far. Just finished Beach Read by Emily Henry. You always have good book recommendations. And also thank you for the quote from James Clear-good advice.
Hello from Vancouver, BC🙋🏻♀️
Quick and easy question; what are your top 3 all time favourite books you’d recommend?
Thanks for the quote from James Clear. It rings very true to me right now. :)
Just finished The Breakaway by Jennifer Wiener which was totally disappointing for a lauded author. Tedious. Now onto What Have You Done by Shari LaPena which is keeping my interest.
I hope Joseph is feeling better!! I am reading Long Island. I finished Brooklyn, very good. I recommend both (Colm Toibin). I ordered God of the Woods..It sounds interesting. Enjoy the weekend!!
Love your post and Joseph’s new glasses. James Clear has some great insight doesn’t he?
Sweet photo of you and your mini me! Those pups of yours are so adorable too!!!
Oh my goodness, Joseph looks so grown up! Love his new glasses!
Hi Michelle, Joseph is so cute and a trouper. So love your blog.
Loved The God of the Woods!
Just finished The Women by Kristen Hannah and All the colors of the dark by Chris Whitaker. Make sure to put them on your list! Both fantastic
Thanks for the recommendations! I read The Women earlier this year and LOVED it; adding the other one to my list!!
So happy to hear all went well and Joseph is on the mend. It does take time. I love your Mini-Me, 😉. You have a wonderful family. Thank you for another wonderful post full of thoughtful ideas and articles. Happy weekend!
