Friday Things #552

1. We had such a fun weekend last week! My cousin and her 18-year-old son were in town for a couple of his hockey games; he had last been here six years ago and boy were my kids excited! It was wonderful getting to spend time together.
2. We finally got some snow this week! It was a quick but heavy little over an inch on Wednesday, and it looked just like a snow globe. Christmas lights are 100% elevated when glowing under a little blanket of snow!
3. It feels like Christmas is coming fast and furious this year. I can’t figure out if it’s because I traveled to New York the week before Thanksgiving, that Thanksgiving was very, very late this year, or a combination of *all the things*, but gosh, it feels a little rushed, and I feel very behind! Anyone else?
4. I keep a spreadsheet going in Google Sheets all year long, so I’m familiar with the idea of the “reverse gift list” (though that’s an odd phrase for it), but am committing to be better about keeping it up with more notes next year!
5. I LOVE the winter season, but I know a lot of people don’t >> 9 Ways to Embrace Winter – Even if You Think You Hate It
6. And another cozy read for you >> A Guide to Creating a Beautiful Winter
7. From a recent James Clear newsletter, I have felt this quite a bit over the last ten years or so:
“If you do not actively choose a better way, then society, culture, and the general inertia of life will push you into a worse way. The default is distraction, not improvement.”
8. A great reminder as we soon turn the corner to a new year >> How to Keep Life Simple – 7 Rules to Live By
9. I can’t believe the last episode of Yellowstone is on Sunday; I can’t wait to see how they wrap it up. We finished up Lioness (LOVE that show) and are currently watching Black Snow; we still need to start Landman!
10. TGIF!ย That sweet face still looks like a puppy :)

Christmas is coming way too fast this year. But it will be special….my grand son’s first Christmas!! Hope.everyone has a wonderful holiday season.๐โโ
What a pretty snowfall! You are right, Christmas is really coming up fast this year. I do love the coziness of winter. I was raised in the Midwest and now live in Texas, so although I love the winter, I am happy that I no longer have to shovel snow. Especially when it’s bitter cold and windy. Such a sweet picture of the pup!
Thank you so much for the article regarding 7 Rules; I needed this today.ย
This is the sweetest story about a rescued senior Golden. I know you will love it.
and yes…I also feel Christmas is rushing in on a bullet. I think the late Thanksgiving ย has had a lot to do with it.
Have. great week!
