Friday Things #558

1. Poor Joseph came down with flu A at the end of last week, but he is finally on the upswing. So far (*knock on wood*), everyone else is okay, though I suspect Isabelle may have had a mild case. It seems like SO MANY people have it right now!
2. The kids have had many different themed dress days this week for spirit week, and Isabelle is ALL about it. Her favorites so far have been wacky Wednesday and “surfin’ safari”.

3. Dominic wanted to run with the “safari” portion of that day, and he totally looked like he was ready for a day in the jungle…

4. I started reading Happier Hour last week after seeing many people I follow on Instagram talk about it last year. I’ll update you as I go through it, as I’m still in the intro chapters, but it’s about how to carve out the time you have to make the most of what is important to you. I love the idea of living and using our time more intentionally instead of just floating through the days.
5. I love so many of these ideas >> How to Be Organized in 2025
6. These photos are stunning >> 57 Most Beautiful Places in the World
7. I love this:
Singer, songwriter, and actress Dolly Parton on gratitude:
“I make a point to appreciate all the little things in my life, because I learned early that if you don’t, you get disappointed a lot. If you do, you might be pleasantly surprised quite often.
I go out and smell the air after a good, hard rain. I re-read passages from my favorite books. I hold the little treasures that somebody special gave me. By keeping my eyes open for unexpected joys, I find the world gives back more than we sometimes think.”
8. Another Chiefs/Eagles Super Bowl? I can’t get excited about it, but happy for you if one of those are your team!
9. Over the last week, we watched the new season of Night Agent, which has been SO good. I’m excited that it looks like they are gearing up for another season. Last season, we watched a couple of episodes of On Call (a new show on Amazon Prime); it’s a little rough, but good.
10. TGIF!ย Judith is still very much enjoying the fireplace vibe :)

The kids look so happy and they are growing up so quickly!
ย ย I love reading about you and the family every Friday!ย
Saturday now, so time to bake!
Happy Friday Michelle. I look forward to seeing your happy family and enjoy your delish recipes. So glad to hear everyone is feeling better.
Have a great weekend,
Michelle
Hi Michelle. The kids look so adorable in their costumes! I am glad to hear Joseph is feeling better and hope everyone else stays well also. There are so many sicknesses going around right now! My grandchildren’s school sent a letter home asking that the kids wash their hands often because they have cases, of strep, flu, RSV, and Noro virus all going around! It seems like everyone started getting sick right after the Thanksgiving break and it hasn’t stopped.
I was wondering if you could tell us a little more about you, is your Brown Eyed Baker your full time job or do you work when the kids are at school and do this part time? I’ve been following you for at least 10 years and have really enjoyed your Friday Things!
I hope you have a good weekend!
Lucy
Hi Lucy, Running Brown Eyed Baker is my full time job :) Thanks for following along for so long!!
Your childrenโs smiling faces embracing a โCool Schoolโ project is delightful! Hoping you are all germ free and have a great weekend.
