Friday Things #559

1. These two ๐ While all three of my kids play with each other and in separate pairs, these two have just always seemed to have a special bond since they were toddlers, I assume since they are so close in age (18 months). They were so excited yesterday that since there was a two-hour delay due to ice, their lunch periods would be merged and they’d get to have lunch and recess together.
2. What do you think of this list of 21 Most Talked About Books of 2024? Of all of the ones listed, I only read one – God of the Woods, and I absolutely loved it!
3. And speaking of books, this story is WILD >> Meet the Doctor Hiding Her Secret Life as a Bestselling Author… I’ve heard of her books (haven’t read any yet) and I just can’t believe it, so crazy!
4. We recently got new salt and pepper shakers that we loooooove (we had been using the same one since, I actually have no idea, so probably at least 11 or 12 years? They were looking a little rough!). They are a little pricey, but they’re gorgeous and would make a fabulous gift!
5. Love this from a recent James Clear newsletter:
“In theory, consistency is about being disciplined, determined, and unwavering.
In practice, consistency is about being adaptable. Don’t have much time? Scale it down. Don’t have much energy? Do the easy version. Find different ways to show up depending on the circumstances. Let your habits change shape to meet the demands of the day.
Adaptability is the way of consistency.”
6. A great concept to apply to decluttering >> The 80/20 Rule
7. Super Bowl weekend! Who are you rooting for in the game? I truly have no idea, maybe the Eagles because, Pennsylvania?
8. And are you planning anything special to eat while you watch? In case you missed it earlier this week, I shared over 70 recipes in my Ultimate List of Super Bowl Food Ideas if you need some inspiration.
9. We’re watching the new season of The Recruit (Netflix) and I find it refreshing that it has some humor to lighten it up a bit.
10. TGIF!ย Duke definitely still has spunk! ๐

I really enjoyed the first two Housemaid books. The third was disappointing. Love the article about the author.
I usually agree with your book recommendations. Just started Beartown and will probably follow up with The God in the Woods.
Wish my Steelers were anywhere close to getting to the Super Bowl!! It will be hard to see the CHiefs win again.
I read “Funny Story” and loved it. Also, I remember Catholic School Week as both the parent and the teacher. Mary in Kansas City
Just finished on Netflix โThe Are Murdersโ. 5 episodes it was dubbed and well done we enjoyed it. We have the same salt shakers, actually my 2nd pepper grinder started with it first ATK recommended. ย Sur La Table just introduced their version, I didnโt compare pricing. We love them.ย
Thank you for the article on the Dr author, I havenโt read the books yet. The audio book was highly recommended too.ย
The kids are getting so big and beautiful too inside and out.ย
Blasphemy but Iโm tired of this superbowl hoopla and money grab by nfl. And Iโm a Packer shareholder.ย
Happy Friday,
So sweet to see the close bond your children have with each other. I hope it lasts a lifetime and in their later years, they all can look back fondly and smile.
I havenโt read one of the books listed yet, but I certainly thank you for your recommendation.
Super Bowl weekend; Iโm rooting for the Chiefs. Would love to see them make football history with 3 consecutive bowl wins. I know that wonโt happen again in my lifetime, so to be able to see it would be fantastic.
How lovely to see the closeness of brother and sister.
Duke is such a sweet ole man, and Einstein was too. Time flies and it’s hard to believe that I have followed you through (almost) two marvelous pups. :-)
Love seeing your sweet children.ย
Duke’s tail with the sun coming through looks like an angel wing. No doubt he is an angel.
