Friday Things #562
1. Next week, Dominic and I will head to New York for his quarterly scans, labs, and his 8th (out of 10) neuroblastoma vaccine injection. This has been our longest stretch of time between appointments in New York (we last went the week before Thanksgiving), and coming up on scans never, ever gets easier. Please send all of the prayers and good thoughts his way, that he remains in remission, doesn’t feel too poorly after the injection, and for a smooth and easy trip.
2. This sweet pea has been sick allll week; the kids really decided to spread out the flu this year, ugh.
3. All three kids decided to try new sports this spring! Joseph is giving soccer a try, Dominic is doing track, and Isabelle is doing softball. I can’t wait to see how they like their new things :)
4. Last year, my sister got me a subscription to the Book of the Month club and I absolutely love it! You can pick a book from their selections each month, or you can skip if nothing sounds good to you. They have yearly awards and I was so thrilled that one of my favorite books from last year, God of the Woods, won book of the year. And I was excited that another favorite, The Women, and one on my to-read list, The Wedding People, were among the finalists.
5. Oh my goodness, this was the first time I had heard about the Goldens in Golden (where golden retrievers converge in Golden, CO for a weekend) and just seeing the photos makes my heart so happy!
6. I whipped up a batch of chocolate chip scones on Sunday morning and everyone was beyond thrilled. It’s such a quick and easy recipe to pull together and they’re always such a huge hit.

8. A had a Facebook ad pop up for these prayer bowls and they are so beautiful! Definitely saving this for gift ideas for the future!

I love preparing scones the evening prior to baking them. I mix the dough, shape into a disc, cover and refridgerte overnight. The folllowing morning, I cut the disc into 8 wedges, brush on a bit of heavy cream and sprinkle with course sugar. Warm scones a always a Sunday morning breakfast hit.
Refridgeraing overnight allows the butter to get very cold which then allows for a great rise. Plus…all the clean-up was done the night prior.

Have you ever seen adventuringwithnala on social media? Nala was at Golden with her human and was a big hit! Such a feel good page. It makes me so happy.
