Friday Things #566

1. Thank you for all of your prayers and well wishes last week, as Isabelle had her tonsils and adenoids removed. The procedure went well with no issues, and she has been home recuperating. She began to get more sore towards the end of the week, which was to be expected. Hopefully, she’ll be good enough to return to school next week!
2. Easter is in less than a month! Do you have any recipes that you or your family ALWAYS make? Whether it’s dinner, dessert, brunch, I’d love to hear!
3. And if you’ve never made homemade peanut butter eggs, you MUST try them this year!
4. Do you play the New York Times games? I play Wordle everyday and have also gotten hooked on Connections. Some days it seems so easy and simple to find the sets of four words that go together and other days, I can’t figure it out and it drives me mad! It’s a great challenge!
5. Ooooh, I love this! >> The Most Anticipated Books of Spring 2025. Are any on your must-read list? So many of them sound amazing, but I was excited to see the new books by Emily Henry, Abby Jimenez, and Fredrik Backman.
6. There is a movie coming out today called Audrey’s Children, which is the story of the woman who became the chief of pediatric oncology at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia in the late 1960’s. She was called the “mother of neuroblastoma” because of the extensive work she did in finding better treatments for the disease, reducing the mortality rate at the time by 50%, which is amazing.
7. On that note, Dominic was featured this week in a “Warrior Wednesday” feature by one of the organizations that spearheads a large amount of fundraising for neuroblastoma research and treatment. You can see the feature here (and scroll through the images for before and after photos, along with details of his treatment journey).
8. It’s spring cleaning time! >> 20 Quotes That Will Change the Way You See Your Stuff
9. We’ve been watching Red Rock, which is I think 10 years old at this point, but there are sooooo many episodes in each season! We watched season one on Amazon Prime; season two was much harder to find, but my husband found it on something called Dailymotion ๐คท๐ปโโ๏ธ
10. TGIF!ย Wishing you a wonderful weekend ahead!

I was stunned to read the extent of Dominicโs diagnosis. ย His recovery is amazing. ย Heโs clearly made of strong stuff. ย I love turkey at Easter. ย I try to have it at least 3 times a year.
Michelle. Are gou not doing the weekend dish any longer? ย I miss it.ย
Yup, started with Wordle, then warmed to all the others. Spelling Bee is now my fave; so many words…many new to me. Great for expanding the vocabulary!
I have a perplexing question. I bake pie. I make lots of different crusts. Iโm embarrassed to say that Graham cracker crust. I have several recipes and use the traditional recipe. I make 10-20 Graham cracker crusts weekly. I make the crusts in bulk. I line my pie tins and refrigerate the crusts before I bake them. I donโt understand why the crusts falll during baking. I add less butter โฆ or add more graham crackers. ย This is so frustrating! Help, please.
It’s good to see Isabelle is doing so well. That is a tough, tough surgery.
I still pray daily for Dominic. He is a walking miracle and such a sweetheart. What a great team of doctors and support you have.
I always bake a bone in ham (my fav is Cook’s), Southern green beans with bacon and onion, orange fluff jello, (your) delicious scalloped potato recipe, deviled eggs with bacon and cheddar, mac ‘n cheese and good old Pillsbury crescent rolls. I love their slight sweetness with the ham. Thank you for your weekly updates! Have a great weekend.
Michelle!
What a week!!
Yay! Bravery personified for Isabel.
Braces! Tonsillectomy!
My heroine!!
Dominic!
Another true warrior for sure!
The battles you have fought! You are so, so courageous & strong.
God bless you all!! ๐ฉท๐ฉท
I love the Friday catch ups! Your children are delightful and I love to see their smiling eyes and faces. You and your husband are doing such a great job!
I so glad Dominic is doing well. ย โค๏ธ
Our Polish traditional must-have for Easter is the Lamb cake — my mother made one every year (and she did not like to bake). It is a pound cake decorated with buttercream and coconut. I have made it every year since I can remember; I bake the cake and my grands decorate it. The lamb cake mold and poundcake recipe can be easily found online. Unable to include photo.
Which recipe source do you use? ย There are so many of them. ย Sounds delicious!
We send all the games to each other in my friend group. Wordle, Connections, Strands and the Crossword Mini. It’s fun! I play the mini everyday and send it to my son too. He beats me almost every time! When I do beat him (or anybody in my group) it is a celebration!
Oh my gosh, the Warrior Wednesday page took my breath away. Reading the description of Dominic’s initial diagnosis…I cant imagine how you and your husband even began to process the information you were confronted with. Your inner ย strength and faith has brought you to this place of ย so many blessings in the form of a beautiful little soul who has a whole healthy life ahead of him.ย
Happy news for Isabelle…hopefully she will fully recover soon.
Finally, I love the NYT games…most especially Wordle, Mini Crossword, Connections( I always check the hints) and my favorite…Strands. IN fact, I am off to get my daily fix right now!!
Glad to hear that Isabelle is feeling much better. ย Hope Dominic is still getting better, too. ย ย ย Than you for this recipe .
I have been following your blog forever. ย Thank you for continuing to share your familyโs stories. ย So much good, along with the bad, has happened along the way. ย God bless Dominic and all that he has gone through. ย And KUDOโs to you, the doctors and staff, and the rest of your family who all pulled together to do what needed doing to get him where he is today. ย
Happy to hear Isabelle is recovering well. Oh my heart…..what a little Warrior Dominic truly is! After all he has been through, it is so heartwarming when we get to hear about him just playing and enjoying life like any other kid:) And on the book list….Notes to John by Joan Didion. I love anything she writes. I’m getting my hold (Blue Nights) from the library today as a matter of fact. Have a great weekend everyone.
Love the pics as usual. So glad to hear Isabelle is doing well. Regarding Easter recipes?- your Polish Nut Roll and Easter Bread have been on our table Easter morning for several years now! ๐ Thank you very much! My husbandโs father was Polish decent and it was a tradition to have a huge breakfast- kielbase, ham, hard boiled eggs, Siddick, Babka and Kolachi. I could never follow or match his auntโs recipe for Kolachi, or find a local bakery that made good bread. ย Then I discovered your blog! Several years I even managed to make extra and send to our son in Montana. Your recipes and clear directions have made our Easter Traditional again.ย
I enjoyed the decluttering quotes, too.
Happy Weekend!
My mom passed away 3 months ago today. We played wordle everyday and sent it to each other. I still play in in honor of her. I like most of the games on the New York Times! The mini crossword puzzle is so good!ย
I always make crepes with strawberries for breakfast on Easter.ย
At Easter time I always make Pizza Rustica (we call it Easter Pizza). I’ll probably make a ham, stuffed mushrooms, artichokes and eggplant.
I like Wordle too. My older son introduced me to it.
I hope Isabelle is feeling all better soon! Dominic truly is a warrior.
Sending prayers for your beautiful family!!โค๐
Yay Isabelle – prayers for continued healing!
It isn’t Easter without my pineapple stuffing to accompany the ham, scalloped potatoes and asparagus. YUMMMMMM
Wishing you a wonderful weekend!
