Friday Things #567

1. Isabelle went back to school earlier this week and has been feeling much better, though still has a little discomfort from her tonsillectomy. Thank you for all of your well wishes and prayers for her recovery! One thing is certain – she is SO EXCITED about turning 7 this weekend!!
2. This is my current puzzle >> Sunset at Lighthouse Bay. It’s beautiful – so many bright colors… it’s been fun to work on!
3. I can’t remember if I’ve mentioned this, but for Christmas, my husband got me a puzzle subscription from Buffalo Games. At the beginning of the month, they send an email with three or four different puzzles to choose from. You select which one you want, and it usually arrives the following week. It’s been so fun! A great gift idea for someone who loves jigsaw puzzles; you can choose from different size puzzles and a 6-month or 12-month subscription.
4. I love this >> Want to Stay Healthier and More Fulfilled Later in Life? Try Volunteering
5. A James Clear newsletter nugget:
“Take all the energy you spend on…
- worrying about the past
- worrying about the future
- worrying about what others think
- worrying about if you might fail
… and channel that energy into one useful action within your control.”
6. If you’re planning to make any recipes in the upcoming months that use meringue, be sure to check out my how to make meringue guide for tons of success tips and troubleshooting notes.
7. I don’t shop at Trader Joe’s much (it’s not terribly far, but in a different direction than where I normally am), but I feel like I should pop in more often! Are any of your favorites on this list? >> The 27 Best Trader Joe’s Groceries of All Time
8. How has your March Madness bracket fared? My husband and I, along with both of the boys, did brackets with a large group, and amazingly, it looks like if Auburn wins, my husband will win, and if Duke wins, Dominic will win (Dominic picks Duke to win every year because of our Duke ๐๐). I am very much out of it!
9. A good read if you want to ease yourself into decluttering/spring cleaning >> The Realist’s Guide to Spring Cleaning
10. TGIF!ย The way Judith sits over me when I go to sleep before my husband comes upstairs with the dogs ๐
Re:4 and 5โฆIโm retired and do a lot of volunteering. ย Breakfast Club feeding school kids weekly and as a coordinator, Canadian ๐จ๐ฆ Blood Donation Services at the refreshment centre to make sure no one faints or bleeds, and with our local visitors center welcoming tourists. ย Itโs really a great way to give back to the community and helps to take my mind off what is happening in the US and here. ย Iโve become quite politically knowledgeable and active and that helps with current feelings of anxiety. ย Sending hope and love to all.
Happy Birthday Isabelle. Glad you are feeling better. Judith is the best.
I’m glad Isabelle is feeling better. Happy 7th Birthday Isabelle!๐.
It looks like Judith is Guarding momma! โคโค
Judith is your protectress!!
Beautiful!!
Happy Birthday, Isabelle! #7 ๐๐๐
I Michelle and happy Friday! I am so happy to hear Isabelle is doing so much better! She is going to an excellent chef just like her Mom!
My daughters birthday is tomorrow. I am have some surprises planned for her and I have to go home tonight and bake her cake. She loves LOTS of icing, even at 43 years old, LOL!
Judith is so special, dogs are so smart, loving, comforting and special. My Cavalier sleeps in bed with me and if I have to get up in the middle of the night, when I come back, he is in my spot and I have to push him over. It is so funny, he can be snoring but the minute I get up, he quickly tries to take the best spot on the bed. :)
Happy birthday Isabelle!
Have a great weekend and enjoy the party!
