The Weekend Dish: 1/5/2018
Hello hello first Saturday of January and first of this new year!
We’re currently in the throes of tackling our very first stomach bug here, ugh. Joseph got sick on Thursday night, so I’m hoping that he’s on the mend today, but the poor kid was not feeling well at all yesterday. So we’ll be spending today low-key recouping, crossing our fingers that no one else gets it, and taking down our Christmas decorations.
What do you have planned?!
As always, you’ll find a recap of what was posted to the site this week, the most shared recipes, my Sunday dinner menu, and recipes I’ve bookmarked from other blogs. Enjoy!

If you haven’t ever made Pioneer Woman’s Perfect Pot Roast, you should. It’s my favorite go to pot roast. It’s in her first cookbook, also my favorite of her cookbooks.
Poor Joseph! Â The first time I made this congee I realized that it’s good for what ails you — no matter what ails you. Â For tummy troubles it’s easy to digest. Â I made it using the first method and chicken broth using Better Than Bouillon. Â If desired, you can add a little soy sauce and sliced scallions, Â Â https://www.thespruceeats.com/basic-congee-recipes-4065244 Â
Have you ever tried The Pioneer Woman’s pot roast?  It’s my favorite. https://thepioneerwoman.com/cooking/2008_the_year_of_the_pot_roast/
