The Weekend Dish: 5/2/2020
Hello and happy Saturday to you!
We are all upside down over here not knowing what day it is! We usually make pancakes every Saturday morning and I swear nearly every night at bedtime, Dominic (who always knew exactly when pancake day was) asks us, “is tomorrow pancake day?” I feel you, buddy.
Any projects you’re working on over the next couple of days? I’d love to hear about how you’re spending your time!

Hi, I always read your blog and enjoy it very much. I was looking at your photography equipment post and I see you use the macro 2.8 100mm lens and when I clicked on it for Amazon there were 2 types, one was just listed as $899.00 and there is the same only in a fixed lens that is about$ 200.00 cheaper. I was wondering which one you actually use, since you said you use it 95% of the time. I am interested in doing food photos, for fun and maybe more if it turns into that and don’t know which I should buy. I also, if your willing, an average shutter speed and aperature for your food photos. I hope you are nice enough to answer.
Hi Barbara, The one I use is the $899 one, but it IS a fixed focal length (100mm). As for the other settings, it really depends on what I’m shooting and the lighting conditions, but I usually shoot with an aperture of around 4.5 or 5.6 and shutter speed I adjust to get enough light with the aperture I’m using. I hope that helps!
I got a recipe for Lemon Cheesecake with sour cream and atop the cheese cake was lemon curd I have lost it, I think I got it from your articles on cheese cake last june or July my two daughters loved it but I can not find that recipe anywhere
Can you help me?
Hmmm I can’t recall that one, I’m so sorry!
I so love your posts of family including Duke and Judith! Recipes are always timely and tasty. On weekends I look forward also to your Bookmarks. I have found some excellent blogs I would never have encountered on my own. I hope you continue with that aspect of your Weekend Dish.
I’ve been doing a lot of reading. I am going to be starting on my Christmas projects tonight (quilted table runner and probably making candles.
I have been reading a ton! I plan to restart some embroidery and I also will be starting my Christmas projects (quilted table runner and maybe candles)
If Dominic loves pancakes so much, have you thought about making a big batch & rewarming in the microwave as needed? Poor little fella’s world is upside down. I have to admit that I too have to think every morning “What day is it?” Don’t want to miss trash day!
