The Weekend Dish: 7/11/2020
Hello hello!
How insane is it that this year is now more than half over?! I feel like my brain is still stuck in the first week of March and the last four months have been a big haze.
Although I definitely feel like the “novelty” (that is totally not the right word, but an appropriate one escapes me at the moment) of quarantine has definitely passed. In March and April, I was coloring with the kids, building big puzzles, and working on my crochet projects, not going as hard with work. But, over the last couple of months, things have slowly returned to normal, and I miss that slow pace that we seemed to have discovered. Wondering how it is that things slipped back even though we’re not going anywhere or doing anything and how to get it back! Do you have similar feelings?
As always, you’ll find a recap of what was posted to the site this week, the most shared recipes, my Sunday dinner menu, and recipes I’ve bookmarked from other blogs. Enjoy!

Loving these quick yeast dinner rolls because I basically feel like every meal, always, should have a dinner roll on the side!
Have a delicious weekend!
i made the blueberry muffins on Saturday. I added orange rind to the batter and forgot sour cream so i used yogurt. I also made the glaze with orange juice instead of milk. They were yummy!
I made those dinner rolls you linked to from Jo Cooks. Omg! Super easy to make and perfect with a little butter (and honey according to my husband). I only have active dry yeast right now so I proofed it in the water called for in the recipe while I dumped everything else in my stand mixer, then I added the proofed yeast. The rolls rose nicely and baked up delicious! I served them with pan fried chicken and fruit for a nice summer dinner.
I have followed your website for years and always enjoy reading it. Love the recipes and sweet pictures of your family! Thanks for the inspiration!

Great recipes Michele. Thank you.
Thank you for your weekly posts when you post them it’s a blessing and we enjoy them! Family comes first if you don’t have time or are busy with family no worries. Just let people’s comments and their ignorance roll off your doing great!
Actually I think you did hit on the right word. We didn’t quite know what to do with the unfamiliarness of a lockdown in the beginning so we pretty much did what we were supposed to — literally sheltered in place — doing what we’ve always hoped to do with unexpected “free” time while we had it. A weird pause in our lives. Will there ever be a time again when we are barred from doing our usual everyday life demands? But then we moved on and adapted our lives around it as we must I’m afraid.
OMG…..I seriously have been obsessed with the PB Brownie Ice Cream Bars since she posted them….those have to happen in my life…..
Hi Michelle. Your post indicates that your Sunday dinner menu is listed but I don’t see it when I scroll down. Your recap and things you have bookmarked are shown though. Just wondering if I’m missing it as I always enjoy reading that.
It seems it’s been that way since Covid hit, Cathy. I look forward to the dinner menu every week, and alas, it’s never there.
She must have a template for what she says every week, and copies and pastes that part about the “Sunday dinner menu” .
I miss it, too.
Hi Cathy, Ahhh yes Lulu is right, I do have a template for these posts and forgot to update it. We have not done Sunday dinners since quarantine began in March.
