Friday Things
1. Joseph got this motorized car last spring/summer and every single time we’ve gone into the garage to go somewhere this winter, he runs over to it, turns the wheel and tries to turn it on. He was beyond thrilled to get to take it for a spin yesterday thanks to some gorgeous weather!
2. Dominic is being just as sweet as ever and is loving rolling over onto his belly! He barely falls asleep on me anymore, so I totally savored this the other day when he zonked out after a bottle. So, so cozy!
3. I’ve been sick since last Friday afternoon with what I thought at first was strep (it wasn’t) then turned into some nasty bronchitis/chest cold thing that has left me with no voice since Tuesday. Gah! Like any good Pittsburgh girl, I immediately stocked up on Tom Tucker Mint Ginger Ale (a sick must-have!).
4. On a related note, I also had a Frosty this week for the first time in maybe 20 years (my raw throat suddenly craved one!), and it 100% hit the spot. I would like one every single day now.
5. I love, love, love that you can adopt dogs that didn’t graduate from the TSA training program.
6. Ash Wednesday is next week – are you giving anything up for Lent? Also, if you need a good Paczki recipe for Fat Tuesday, I’ve got you covered!
7. My mind is blown that this mixer costs $1,000. Whoa.
8. I’m not sure what it’s been like where you live, but we’ve been enjoying spring weather this week! My husband has been taking Joseph outside to play and when he comes in his hair smells like fresh air, and I wish I could bottle it!
9. I’m officially back on the Homeland bandwagon after two good episodes in a row. AND! Fellow fans of The Americans! It comes back in TWO WEEKS (March 7th)! Cannot wait.
10. TGIF! I hope you have a fantastic weekend, and maybe get to lounge with a friend!
Joseph looks so dashing in his car! And Dominic is just such a sweet baby! Hope you feel better soon….a Frosty does hit the spot when you have a sore/scratchy throat! Not giving anything up for lent but might get brave and try the paczi recipe. I am behind on Homeland but hope to catch up tomorrow for Sunday’s episode.
Wow your babies are growing up so fast! The hubster and I have been hooked on Timeless and This is Us. And of course we’ve been following Grey’s Anatomy since the pilot episode, lol. Things being so hectic lately we find ourselves dvr’g the shows and staying up till 2 am catching up on them all! The TSA dogs are completely adorable and I want to adopt them all! I really getting ready for all the Raspa runs I’ll be making soon bc it is crazy hot already here where we live…in Deep South Texas. Come to think of it, I haven’t had a Frosty in what seems like forever!
Thanks for the heads-up about the $1000 mixer – I’ll skip the matte black, but as the article says “changing colors like the horses in Wizard of Oz” – that is a fun fantasy.
I agree with Nicole about watching “This Is Us” – it is SO good!
The weather here in GA has been gorgeous this week! That soda sounds like a must try! I love ginger ale and also anything mint. Sounds like it would be perfect for tummy troubles too.
What store’s in PGH carry Tom Tucker Mint Ginger Ale? Would like to pickup a bottle next time I’m there, sounds yummy! Thanks!
You can get Tom Tucker at Giant Eagle grocery stores.
Great, thanks!
Yes, ditto Michelle – Giant Eagle carries it! As do some others like Shop n Save, Community Market, etc.
Your bookend pictures to your blog today are perfect…..and beautiful!!
Hope you feel better soon!! ❤?
Hi Michelle, you really got my attention when you mentioned Tom Tucker Mint Ginger Ale, since I tend to love mint anything. I immediately started checking it out, but sadly it seems that having any sent to Southwest Florida would be too costly for me. I think you must need to order a case. I will keep my eyes open for other opportunities to try it! I don’t usually give things up for Lent any more, since I usually fail. ? Instead, I try to be kinder, and give more to charity. And, I won’t eat meat on Fridays. But I love the idea of the Paczki doughnut! I first heard of them about 10 or so years ago when I was still living in Upstate NY. The supermarket chain Price Chopper started carrying them, and gave them a lot of publicity. They had fillings of several different fruit jellies or fillings, and also Bavarian cream. I was surprised to have never heard of them before, since my neighborhood growing up was largely working-class families of Polish, Irish, and Italian descent, and traditional recipes were widely shared. I look forward to all your posts, and especially your pictures of your precious children. Thanks for all the great information you share, and God bless you and your family as we enter the holy season of Lent and Easter!
I haven’t been commenting lately, but I have still been enjoying your blog and your precious pictures of ALL your boys. I lost both of my parents within 11 days of each other at the end of December/first of January and we were just devastated. They were elderly, 85 and 89, but still in their own home with no assistance – it has been surreal. That loss was unbelievable and it is still hard to believe they are both gone. And, in the middle of all that, we were trying to move into our new home.
Anyway, enough about me – like I said, I have still been enjoying your life – and your fabulous recipes. Joseph is “The Man” in his beemer, isn’t he? He looks so happy – it just makes you smile. And the picture of sweet Duke with Dominic is just precious. I know you guys are so happy to have that sweet furbaby help raise your boys.
I have yet to see Homeland – I really need to try it out. My new guilty pleasure is Black Sails – on Starz – but it is DEFINITELY ADULT ONLY viewing. Lots of EVERYTHING kids don’t ever need to see!
Have a fabulous weekend, my dear!
Oh Robin, I’m so very sorry for the loss of your parents. How awful :( Love and healing thoughts to you, xo. (We also watch Black Sails – one of our favorites!)
So sorry you’ve been sick…feel better!!! I think everyone has been enjoying this spring like weather.
I kept forgetting it was FEB…but back to reality as snow is in the weekend forecast. Joseph looks like he is having so much fun in his little car. HOW CUTE IS THAT! That picture of Dominic and Duke is soo sweet!! That little guy is growing like a weed. So enjoy seeing both your boys grow….thank you for sharing them with us!
Your boys are adorable! That last picture with Duke and Dominic is precious. Joseph looks like the world in his hands! Great smile.
I too like the idea of being able to adopt dogs that didn’t graduate from TSA training. Very cool. It was spring like here in Utah, we went from 67 on Tuesday to 30 with snow packed roads this morning. I guess the groundhog was right…more winter. :) Have a fantastic weekend! Love your blog!
Oh my gosh…the adopt a dog video is priceless. The German Shepard struggling through the dog door and the golden looking up at the camera are to die for. Such a great program and perfect for anyone who wants an adult dog that has had basic training.
The picture of Joseph in his car is adorable. When my godchild was 2 yrs old, her parents found a used pink Barbie Jeep at a yard sale. He dad had to adapt the pedals so she could reach them. Initially she would travel backwards, around and around the yard but she finally switched gears and learned to drive forward. Little kids in little cars …too cute!
I LOVE reading your posts! I have mentioned before I have 2 older boys and we had a wonderful golden who was like a third child when the kids were growing up. Even though you and I are probably 20 years apart, I find we have some of the same interests from reading your posts. Thanks for making this corner of the internet so enjoyable for me!! I LOVE seeing your sweet pictures:)
Tom Tucker Mint Ginger Ale. That’s a blast from the past. I didn’t know that Tom Tucker “pop” was still being sold. That was my grandmother’s favorite flavor.
You often mention the tv shows you are hooked on…have you tried “This Is Us”? Oh my goodness…so well written and you really fall in love with the characters. I don’t watch much television but we DVR this one every week and make it a priority to watch it before we hear about the episode from others. Have a good weekend…keep the cute pictures coming!
Hi Nicole, I watched some of the first episode, but just couldn’t get into it. I’ll have to try again!
