Friday Things
1. My Chief Culinary Consultant and I are officially in our new home! We closed and started moving last Wednesday, so it’s been 9 days now in our new digs. To say it’s been hectic and exhausting is an understatement. We still have quite a bit to move and get organized, as well as some larger house projects, but it’s definitely beginning to feel more like home!
2. I took the above photo of my boxes of sprinkles and chocolate as I was organizing my new pantry. I was doing this before I had even a fraction of my clothes moved. Priorities, right?!
3. Also, if you happen to own stock in Target, Lowes or Bed, Bath & Beyond… you’re welcome.
4. I haven’t done much in the way of breaking in my new kitchen yet since we’ve been living off of leftover pizza, hoagies, food our parents brought us, etc. So far, I’ve boiled water and cooked eggs and sausage. It’s a start! I think my oven needs to churn out a batch of chocolate chip cookies (or a pizza) soon!
5. My sister sent us an Edible Arrangements basket full of fresh fruit (including some chocolate-covered strawberries, pineapple and banana) the first day we were at the house. It was such an awesome idea; if you know someone moving into a new house, I highly recommend it! We didn’t have any groceries yet, pots and pans weren’t unpacked, so it was perfect to just open the fridge and be able to grab some fresh fruit.

6. Have you seen “The Ultimate Office Blooper Reel“? If you were a fan of The Office, you’ll love it. It’s two hours long! It was one of my favorite shows for many years, and I was bummed to see it come to an end.
7. I’ve been searching around for a good dog bed for Einstein. If you have any recommendations, I’d love to hear them! He’s a Golden Retriever, so the bed would need to be available in a large size.
8. Tomorrow is my final beginner golf lesson, where we go out and play nine holes of par 3 golf. I’m excited to play and see how I do… Fingers crossed that I don’t lose all of my golf balls in the woods!
9. And then there were four… I’m ready for the Stanley Cup conference finals to finally start! Pittsburgh is taking on Boston… it’s a good thing that Tracey and I like each other so much, or it could get ugly!

I see you have your sprinkles in a larger container. My baking supplies are in containers like that, but the sprinkles are in an open one… I’m going to enclose them like you have, good idea!
We have purchased several dog beds over the years for our Golden Retriever but he always ends up tearing them apart! I hope you find one that works!

I thought you would be moving and proud you have things going your way. I am a sports fan of just about everything but hockey. This has been a good week for the NBA and the Texas Rangers. Not good for the Rangers but I still watch. My San Antonio Spurs are waiting to see who they will play in the finals but afraid it will not be good for them. They are getting older now. Would love for this group of players to win one more time. Enjoy your new home.

Congratulations on your new home! Our former husky (rest her soul) was very particular about her bed. Anything that had beads, chips or something else inside it that moved and she could dig at, she would dig at the bed and destroy it. Huskies are notorious “diggers”…you should have seen our yard! :) We finally tried the down/featherbed pet beds from Cuddledown.com. You can buy the down insert and then purchase different covers for it which are completely washable. She absolutely loved it and never tried to “dig it up”. Over the years we bought another one…one for our main floor and one to keep in our bedroom for her “bed”. I am happy to say they are still in use 10 years later for our new dog. Those covers have lasted through countless weekly vacuum sessions and many washes. Everything is still original. We bought the large or extra large size for Aurora, but our new pup is only 20 lbs. Doesn’t matter….Yuki curls up in the middle of that big bed and luxuriates. You won’t be sorry. Einstein will particularly thank you as he ages :)

As far as dog beds, my mother in law got their lab an LL Bean bed which i saw a couple others mentioned up above.. they love it!
Fellow Pittsburgher here…you should check out the Homegoods in Robinson for dog beds. Last time I was in there, they had an aisle full! :)

Congratulations on the new house! It’s so daunting to have a blank canvas to work with, but so much fun at the same time! I’ve heard that for dog beds, LL Bean’s are pretty fabulous. I don’t have a dog, so I can’t speak from personal experience, but some of my friends have bought dog beds from them and have loved them.

I have an 8-year-old chocolate lab. A couple years ago, I invested in an orthopedic, memory foam bed. (http://www.amazon.com/Extra-Orthopedic-Memory-lasting-Waterproof/dp/B001E3EC9M/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&qid=1370000186&sr=8-8&keywords=dog+bed+large). At first, Newman didn’t like the change and didn’t even want to go on it, but once he got on it, he was asleep in seconds. The bed is actually bigger than I realized, and he can sleep in any direction comfortably. It has a denim cover and a waterproof liner too. I highly recommend.

Congratulations on your new house! Love and envy the pantry. Our dog beds are from Drs Foster and Smith. I highly recommend the Deluxe Orthopedic Pad with the waterproof liner. The beds hold their shape really well and the covers are removable and washable and come in pretty colors/patterns. The waterproof covers are a must in our house.
We bought a dog bed from Moochie & Co 4 years ago and it’s still in amazing condition. They are pricey, but they hold their shape and as advertised don’t collect dog fur, which is saying something since my doggie lays in it all the time. They have several different materials you can choose from so you can make sure it matches your newly decorated house.

Hockey – my husband is born and raised Chicago guy and I think the Blackhawks are doing well? I pay no attention to it, but he sought out a Blackhawks sports bar here in San Diego yesterday to go watch a game. I guess he may be going to LA to watch a game? So clueless about hockey. I hope your team wins though! :)
