Friday Things #486
1. I can’t believe that we only have one more full week of summer left before the kids head back to school. It has flown by, and we’re trying to soak up every last minute! We went to the zoo this week, the kids played with friends at the park, we played mini golf… enjoying these days ❤️
2. Dominic was feeling back to himself by Saturday and asked to gear up as goalie in the driveway. When he does we just use a wiffle ball because he can’t sustain any impact to his chest due to his central line but he loves practicing his moves… I can’t wait for him to do everything that he wants to do without restriction 💙
3. Then Saturday evening, the kids had a birthday party at an animal park where you could interact with the animals and Isabelle’s highlight was feeding lettuce to the giraffe 🩷
4. I saw that Amazon is planning to have another sales event – “Prime Big Deal Days” – coming up in October solely for its Prime members. If you don’t have a Prime membership and want to try it out, you can sign up for a free 30-day trial. You get free two-day delivery (though sometimes it can be one-day or same-day), Prime video (shows and movies), free Grubhub+ for a year, Amazon Music, gaming, kids content, and more.
5. Love this >> Why Decluttering Isn’t Like Waving a Magic Wand (and how to clear clutter from the inside out, including notes on “decide once” which I love!)
6. Last weekend, Dominic and Isabelle asked me to make chocolate cake, so I quickly made my Texas sheet cake. It’s always a hit and I love how quick and simple it is to make, plus that fudgy frosting is the BEST!
7. I swear I can still smell this (along with Sunflowers perfume):
8. Speaking of the 90’s, I have an urge to go back and rewatch so many of my most-loved shows from that decade. I feel like I grew up with so many shows that aired during that decade since I turned 10 in 1990. What were your favorites? I loved Friends, Seinfeld, The Golden Girls, Full House, Party of Five, My So-Called Life, Felicity, The Wonder Years, Dawson’s Creek, ER… gosh there were so many!
9. We started watching Special Ops: Lioness on Paramount+ this week and I am hooked. Another great show from Taylor Sheridan. If you haven’t seen it yet, there are currently four episodes available; the next one comes out on Sunday.
10. TGIF! Duke routinely grabs these rings (that we’ve had since it was just Einstein!) and swings them in Judith’s face until she starts to play 😍
Thank you for the updates! We love hearing about the kiddos & love to hear all the good reports about Dominic! Glad the kids are having a good time before going back to school!
Hi Michellle, I absolutely look forward each week to your Friday Things. I don’t chime in often, but I just want you to know that your family & Dominic are always in my prayers. I’m happy to see how well all 3 are doing and I love seeing photos of your Goldie’s. I lost 2 to cancer about 4 years ago. We now have a young 1 yr old Goldie Boy-Finnley. 🐾 My 2 boys, 6th & 8th graders also are back in school since last week. SO, a while back you had a post about thinning hair. I’m in your boat, but I’m 54 and going through the perimenopausal period. I’ve tried so manny gimmicks and different tonics/shampoos. I’ll let you read the reviews on this. This really helps. It was slower for me, but I feel the difference now after a few months. I’m not sure if someone else has already shared this with you, but here you go. 😍

Too funny – I clicked on this post from the link in this week’s weekend dish, just knowing that “nostalgic scents” was going to mean B&BW Cucumber Melon!! I still buy the hand soap every July just for the nostalgia of smelling like a kid at summer camp.
Sunflowers perfume. YES!!!! I forgot about that. Very 90s.
I am so happy that the kids, and pups, are enjoying the last few weeks of summer. I hope the kids have a wonderful school year. I always enjoy reading about your beautiful family. God bless!🙏❤
Favorite TV show was Family Matters, Steve Urkel was the Best!!
Thank you for sharing your culinary
talents! Bless your family always🌹
You have a beautiful family! Love seeing them, including of course the sweet dogs! Glad things are going well! All of you have had a great summer! I always cried when my girls went to school and when they went away to college, I thought I would die both at the same time. Now my grandkids are in college. I sure miss having a little one, so it is nice seeing yours. Lots of love and happiness and health to all of you. Enjoy it all you can. They grow up way too fast. 🥰❤️
good morning, thank you for your friday post. i really look forward to them and seeing your little family always makes me smile. do you have a amazon store that shows us the stuff u think we should buy lol?
Hi Debbie, I’ve been meaning to finish up an Amazon store, I’m going to work on it and I’ll be sure to share it here when I’m done! Thank you for the nudge :)
Do your kids like pecans on their Texas Sheet Cake? My “greats” as well of their mom won’t eat nuts or coconut – I think it’s a texture thing. This cake was a regular item when I owned a deli.
So exciting that the kids are ready to go back to school. Will Dominic be able to go back full-time? Have a great weekend!
They like it best without the nuts! And yes, Dominic will be able to go to school full-time in between whatever interventions they determine he needs.
Isabelle is going to be taller than both boys soon. She’s growing so quickly!
I know!! She’s gotten so big this year!
This is a great post- filled with family smiles, including the furry ones, great tips and recipes. Thank you for sharing the decluttler article. It was honest and to the point without lecturing or presenting unattainable perfection as many do. I realize I do need to clean up articles and blogs that really don’t still hold my interest or lots of Fluff and no Substance. That will save me time Ican actually use to get something done about the Real Clutter! Don’t worry, Michelle, yours is definitely a Keeper! ☺️
Thank you so much for the kind feedback :)
