Friday Things #569

1. The kids are officially on Easter/spring break, and ahhhh I feel like it’s a break for us, too. No homework oversight, no rushing out the door in the morning; a slow down from the daily hustle is always welcome!
2. Last week, there was a spelling bee for the older grades at my kids’ school and one of Joseph’s friends was representing their class; he ended up winning and it was so sweet hearing how excited Joseph was for his friend, and then I saw pictures of their classmates holding homemade signs to cheer him on. I couldn’t help but think that while kids can get such a bad rap, there is so much GOOD out there.
3. My new puzzle arrived this week! I haven’t started it yet, but I’m excited that it has summer travel vibes >> Brilliant Travel collage puzzle
4. I’ve gotten a good chunk into The Frozen River and I am completely hooked!
5. Really enjoyed this quick read on acquaintances and friendships >> One Moment of Honesty at a Time
6. In case you missed it, I posted a brand new recipe yesterday that I think you’re going to LOVE; it’s a simple sheet cake that’s tender and moist and loaded with flavor >> Old-Fashioned Coconut Cake
7. Another good read >> How to Reclaim Your Attention (And Your Life)
8. We watched the first season of Paradise on Hulu this past week and oh my gosh, it is SO GOOD. I was so thrilled to see that they’re already filming the second season.
9. Wishing you all a beautiful holiday weekend!! 💚
10. TGIF! She was keeping an eye on the neighborhood :)

My emails have stopped from you, and I miss them. I enjoy seeing the updates of your children.
I
love
that
dog.
Love to read about you and your family. Have a wonderful break. Happy Easter to you all.
Thank you for sharing your family
In B.C. Canada we’ve had spring break already because Easter is so late but the kids in my area get a 5 day long weekend right now. Re:5…I’m old (71) so I’m now happy to let acquaintances and friends happen as they may. What saddens me is when old best friends drop off the radar or express that they don’t want to go back in time and reunite. I’m still trying to find the old recipe for Angel Flake coconut Cake that was popular in the 70s-80s. I will look for Paradise here in Canada. Have a wonderful Easter weekend!
Loved FROZEN RIVER..
Phyllis B
Thanks to you, I am loving ” The Frozen River!”
“Beartown” left me speechless. The writing was clever, the characters flawed yet all too real. Which prompted me to discover the sequel.. ” Us Against Them.” If you haven’t read the continuing saga of Maya, Ana, Benjie and their friends, please grab a copy.
Have a wonderful, blessed Easter!
Happy Easter Michelle and family:)
Oh, this post had so much that resonated with me this week. Love the children’s pic and of course your wonderful furry Guardian. Copied the recipe and plan to make soon. Loved it was 9×13 and not fancy layers😉. Both of the articles were eye opening and refreshing. I read and saved the How to reclaim your attention- definitely need that one-
Wishing you and your family a wonderful Easter Weekend.
I’m so happy the family is enjoying Spring Break! Happy Easter!
Can’t wait to try the Coconut Cake recipe!
I’ll be checking out your new reads! Thanks!
