Friday Things #579

1. The kids have been enjoying some low-key, relaxing summer days this week. Not much on the calendar, so we’ve been at the pool, the kids have been having water gun battles in the driveway, slow mornings and afternoons, etc. Long live summer break!
2. Did you do any shopping this week with Amazon Prime Day or Target’s Circle week? I mainly bought school supplies, as well as a texturizing spray, my favorite leave-in conditioner, a rash guard for Joseph, some extra measuring spoons, and an electric flosser (will report back on how I like it!). Today’s the last day to shop, and in case you missed it, I shared some of my favorite things a couple of days ago. Enjoy browsing!
3. I was so intrigued by this article on Emily Henry’s books, mostly because it mirrored my experience with her books – I really loved Happy Place but was very meh about The People We Meet on Vacation. I’m currently reading Funny Story; so far, I’m liking it!
4. I feel like I’m behind on my ice cream cone consumption this summer; anyone else??
5. Love this >> Theologian and philosopherย Saint Augustineย on doing what you can for who you know:
“Since you cannot do good to all, you are to pay special attention to those who, by the accidents of time, or place, or circumstances, are brought into closer connection with you.”
6. Earlier this week, the kids asked for a “waffle Wednesday”… of course, yes! We’ve made pancakes every Saturday morning since they were toddlers, and for a while, we also had Waffle Wednesday. However, they are out the door early on school mornings, so it’s not very feasible during the school year. But summer waffle Wednesdays? Yes, please! (Also, I prefer waffles to pancakes ๐ซฃ)
7. Three great snippets from The Imperfectionist.
8. A bit related to #7 >> The Ultimate Productivity Hack is Saying No
9. Are you watching any sports? Our house has been into Wimbledon and the Tour de France (Joseph especially LOVES watching cycling!).
10. TGIF!ย Our big guy turned 12 last week!
Happy Birthday sweet Duke. Still as handsome as ever pup pup.๐ถ๐๐ฅณ
Waffles always over pancakes!!! Have a great week! :)
Happy Birthday Duke!
Looks like you are having a fun summer. I agree on waffles over pancakes too!
I bought a pair of Ryka walking shoes, a 12 inch cast iron skillet, with a lid, coffee pods, a non stick tube pan and a couple pairs of earrings during Amazon Prime days. Some pretty sweet deals!
Dearest Duke, happy blessed and healthy 12th birthday! ย ๐ฅณ๐ I remember when you were so little following Einstein aroundโฆ.now you are the big brother to Judith. ย God bless you handsome boyโฆI hope today and always- abundant blessings and all that brings your heart a smile will be yoursโฃ๏ธโฃ๏ธ
Speaking of ice cream, have you tried the Ninja Creami machine? ย OMG Iโm obsessed! Picked one up at Costco this week and enjoying the heck out of it! We love making lower fat and sugar high protein ice cream with it. So far, chocolate banana walnut (think: Ben & Jerryโs chunky monkey) is our favorite ๐ย
LOVED “Funny Story”
Okay, Michelle, I have literally been following you FOREVER. I remember when you got Duke! And now he’s TWELVE?!?! Anyway, I just had to say that. ๐
We do โPancake Mondayโ every other month. ย We started this after my sister ย died as a way to stay in touch with my nephew and his family.
It has been amazing to see the relationships between all the kids grow ! ย We all love the time we spend together .
I grew up in Mt Lebanon and still have family in Pittsburgh. ย My grandchildren are Steeler fans!!
An electric flosser??? ย I’ve never heard of such a thing! ย Definitely will be curious to see how you like using it.
Happy Fri-YAY! It looks like the kids are having so much fun! I just love these lazy, hazy, crazy days of summer!!!!! :) Happy birthday to your 12 year old! How cute is that picture!
Oh HAPPY BIRTHDAY!! 12 years old, that is just wonderful! We’ve had 2 goldens and both passed by age 9. I just can’t get myself to get another, the hurt is just too great. I get my smiles from your posts of yours, thank you for that!
Love lazy summer days. You all deserve the best each day brings. Live in the moment and enjoy!!
Thanks for all you do!
Ugh I know, my first golden passed away at 9 years old. It’s been such a blessing to see Duke continue to thrive!
