The Weekend Dish: 6/13/2020
Hello to you and the weekend!
Are your days still running together or do you feel like structure is starting to return to life? Even though we’re still not doing anything except for a weekly outdoor visit to see our parents, I feel like the days are a little bit more “together” than they were a couple of months ago. Maybe because at the beginning of pandemic it was still wintery type weather and I was happy to just hunker down and hibernate? Not sure!
Whatever your weekend looks like, I hope you find some time to do whatever it is that makes you happy! ❤️️
As always, you’ll find a recap of what was posted to the site this week, the most shared recipes, my Sunday dinner menu, and recipes I’ve bookmarked from other blogs. Enjoy!

Do you happen to have a full-proof pie crust recipe? Mine turn out like hockey pucks!!!
Thanks!
Also, I responded to the email you sent regarding being threatened and harassed regarding your stance on current affairs. I totally support you!
Hi Jenny, This is my all-time favorite pie crust: https://www.browneyedbaker.com/the-best-pie-crust-recipe/. I’m also going to be sharing an all-butter version in a couple of weeks, so stay tuned :)
Thank you so much for your email and support, it means so much to me! I am working on responding to everyone who emailed me, I received over 1,000 so it may take awhile, but I am replying to everyone! :)
For some reason I have not been receiving your “Friday Things” posts. I got your “Weekend Dish” today so clicked back to see yesterday’s but sure wish I would get the Friday Things email again. I love hearing about your kids!
Hi Cindy, Oh no! Can you send me an email to michelle@browneyedbaker.com so I can get your email address and make sure everything looks good on the backend of the email list?
I think the fact the restrictions are starting to lift in so many states, stores & restaurants re-opening-even at lowered capacity, & even if you don’t go-makes you feel like things are getting back to normal.
We cancelled a trip that was planned to visit a friend in Florida, bc we were not comfortable about flying. But we decided to take a trip to the beach, that we can drive to for a few days. That alone-getting away & having that to look forward to-makes me feel like things are a bit more normal.
I may have passed it.. but I didnt see your Sunday menu. I was so excited to get to see that again😊 maybe I did speed reading and went past it. Glad to know you are gathering again so your family can be with your beautiful babies and your entire family.
I so often would get ideas for meals from your Sunday menus. No pressure, but it will be neat to get to see those again.
Hi Macy, I haven’t been posting menus because we haven’t been hosting Sunday dinners since quarantine began. Once our stay-at-home order was lifted last month, we’ve been spending one day a week visiting with our parents outside so the kids can run around and we can visit safely. We’re still adhering to social distancing so we’re keeping our visits to outside for the time-being.
Thanks so much. Will look forward to you getting to enjoy that part of your life again..hopefully soon. I have been home since this whole quarantining began and pretty much everything got turned upside down. I know better days are ahead and your blog and this amazing community have been a wonderful blessing to me…especially in the last several months.
I know my sister and I enjoyed reading about your recipe/cooking plans for your Sundays and we will look forward to seeing them once everyone is safe and ready to go back to the gatherings. I am very thankful for your family’s safety and health (our family too thankfully). I dont know a single person who got the coronavirus and I also dont know anyone who knows anyone who got it either. I’ll consider that an amazing gift for sure.
My husband and I don’t know anyone personally, either. My mom knows two people she works with that have gotten it – one recovered at home in a few weeks, but the other was in the ICU on a ventilator for 2 weeks and is now home. And one of my mom’s cousins has an inlaw who passed away from it. We just keep hoping that our family, our parents and close extended family stay healthy!
