The Weekend Dish: 7/21/2018
Happy Saturday!
I hope you had a great week and have some fun things on tap for the weekend. I’m planning to spend the day today in the kitchen working on recipes, and then relax tomorrow with family and Sunday dinner.
Have you vacationed yet this year? Are you still waiting to go? What’s your destination? Tell me all about it! And I especially want to know what you’re eating :)
As always, you’ll find a recap of what was posted to the site this week, the most shared recipes, my Sunday dinner menu, and recipes I’ve bookmarked from other blogs. Enjoy!
On Brown Eyed Baker This Week
Easy Lemon Bars – Classic Lemon Bars with a shortbread-style crust and silky smooth, slightly tart, sweet lemon custard on top. All they need is a dusting of powdered sugar!
Chocolate Chip Chiffon Cake – This classic chiffon cake bakes up tall, fluffy and moist with swirls of grated chocolate creating a marbled effect throughout the cake. The best!
Friday Things – Baking with the boys, Mr. Rogers, bath towels, dermatologists, and more…

Have a delicious weekend!
I took a brief trip to NYC to visit friends from college last month. Made sure to stop at Momofuku- cereal milk soft serve was unreal!
But that visit was so quick and not really a vacay, so I just booked a real vacation to Spain and Morocco for the week of Thanksgiving. Cannot wait to eat tapas and churros with chocolate to my heart’s content!
Loved your IG story of the boys baking so much I sent it to a few people! I hope for a family as sweet as yours one day! :)
We’ve been to the beach to go camping twice and went to Sea World. Of course all those days, easy fixings to eat. I have made a strawberry cake this summer and with my son and husband both having a birthday in August, I am going to try a new vanilla and chocolate swirl cake. My son wants a Harry Potter theme so I got a mold to make chocolate frogs and will do something special with cupcakes.  I start training for work in a few weeks so I am super busy!Â
Happy Saturday!  My Pittsburgh crew (😉 ) headed to Cape May, NJ for vacation and just got back last Saturday.  We go every year and love it there so much!  Not a bad ride either.  We had some fantastic seafood and they have an amazing brick oven pizzeria.  We had perfect weather and just a really great time.  The kids turned into fish between the beach and the pool haha.  Already looking forward to next year 😄
Funny you put up the French toast recipe today! I was looking at your recipe the other day for this, & picked up challah bread to make this weekend!
We’re taking the family to California for vacation. My husband is from northern CA; taking the kids first to L.A. to go to the beach & Universal Studios. Then heading up to the San Francisco area to be with family.
When in San Fran, there’s a fortune cookie  factory you can go in to, & the ones that don’t come off right from the conveyor belt, you can just take & eat! Thought kids would enjoy that.
Hope you have a great weekend!
Hey, Hey!!! Happy Saturday!!!! My family went on vacation at the end of June & we took our kids to Mexico!!! It was SO MUCH FUN!!!! My kids are at “easier” ages…vacation-wise ;) We decided to vacation w/ some friends this year, so our kids had even MORE fun. We definitely want to go back to Mexico, but would also LOVE to take our kids to other countries as well. As far as our food goes, we haven’t been eating anything too exciting. I’ve been trying to eat healither, more low carb, so it’s been lots of salads for me this week :)
