Friday Things
1. Last week, we had a SERIOUS leaf problem in our yard. It’s since been taken care of, but Einstein sure enjoyed plopping himself in the middle of a big leaf pile!
2. I had my 29-week doctor’s appointment yesterday, and everything continues to be going really smoothly. My weight, blood pressure and belly measurements are all on target, I got my whooping cough vaccine, signed my delivery consent form… things are getting real!
3. This week, we got our Christmas cards ordered and I looooove them (got them on Minted)! I think I’m all set in terms of cards, now I just need to get organized in terms of gift buying. Something tells me I’m not going to feel like waddling through the mall in the middle of December!
4. Did you see these pictures of Melanie Griffith and her family’s pet lion from the 1970’s? I mean, OMG.
5. What was your favorite Halloween candy when you were a kid? I was always a Reese’s peanut butter cup girl (big surprise!), and pretty much any type of chocolate-based candy bar. I was always so bummed when I saw a box of Nerds – those were my least favorite candy, by far.
6. I drank my first hot chocolate of the season last night, complete with marshmallows. I might need to make this a nightly ritual!
7. For those of you that watched Boardwalk Empire, what did you think of the finale?! I was loving this season with the flashbacks, and wish they would have spent more episodes on it and developed everything a little bit better – it felt a little bit rushed to me. I thought the ending was inevitable, even though it bummed me out.
8. Did you watch It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown last night? I love, love, LOVE Charlie Brown holiday specials, and now I am officially ready for Christmas movies and music. Tomorrow is November, so it’s not totally ridiculous, right?!
9. Don’t forget that I’m hosting an awesome giveaway – if you are into photography, you’ll definitely want to enter the giveaway to win a One-Year Subscription to the Adobe Creative Cloud Photography Plan, which includes Photoshop, Lightroom and Lightroom Mobile!
10. TGIF! I hope you have a fun and safe Halloween night! (Duke and Einstein know how to take it easy!)
Thank So much do the Peppermint Pattie recipe, will be trying soon!=) You look fabulous!=)
Michelle,
So glad your pregnancy is going well. A lot of women have a hard time.
I know I must have said this hundreds of times but I love the puppy pics.
Annamaria
You look fantastic! Do you have a good recipe for hot chocolate or do you use the prepackaged mix? I am hosting a hot chocolate and coffee bar after a graduation dinner in December and Im not sure if I should make hot chocolate or use a mix. Any suggestions?
Hi Jeanie, Thank you! Here is my favorite homemade hot chocolate mix: https://www.browneyedbaker.com/homemade-hot-cocoa-mix/. As for store-bought, I love the packets of Land o’ Lakes “supreme”. I’m not super duper fancy :)
Are you sure Einstein and Duke aren’t siamese twins..they are always so close and snuggly..LOL
You look fabulous! My fav Halloween candy is m&m’s. I am also all about anything chocolate, but not cheap chocolate.
Sadly, I am not a fan of Charlie Brown. I love the Hallmark Christmas movies and if I don’t catch them now, I will binge watch them over the holidays. Such corney fun!
Happy Halloween!
You look mahhhvelous! I’m so excited for you. I loved Beich’s banana-flavored caramels, Chicken Bones and Mary Janes (old-fashioned crunchy or chewy candies)… we’re talking many years ago.
Glad that everything is going well!
You might have shared this already, but for a sneak peek into the BEB kitchen, are you cooking&writing a lot of extra posts now to be published once your little man arrives, or will you be taking some time off BEB?
You sound like a super structured person who knows how to enjoy weekends and evenings, that’s really neat and inspiring.
I am attempting to do so :) I’m not too far ahead at the moment, but I’m hoping to have a quite a bit of extras in reserve so that I can take a little bit of a maternity leave once the little guy arrives in January :)
That lion is insane! My favorite candy was, is, and forever will be Reeses. :)
Boardwalk Empire – Loved it from the beginning. And once you know that a favorite is going away, of course it seems rushed, regardless of how they decide to end it. The opening of the finale, with Nucky swimming so far out into the ocean, made me wonder if he would be committing suicide, but then I just didn’t feel he was the type to leave that way. Jimmy’s boy, Tommy, taking Nucky out in the end, although a surprise, seemed very appropriate after I thought about it for a while, and the perfect choice for the writers of this wonderful show which I am so very sad to see go. I always hoped that Nucky had only somehow “staged” the shooting of Jimmy, that he would return at some point. Then when I accepted that he was really gone, and when Richard died also, the show lost some of its luster for me, but I still watched. Will remember this one and think it was so very well done, the actors great, loved Chaulky, and the show worthy of every award it received and them some. Thanks HBO for this superb effort!
Hi Michelle! You are looking great! Looks like Einstein and Duke are ready for the Trick or Treaters! LOL! If your ready for Christmas movies, tomorrow night on Hallmark they are beginning their Christmas movies. Tomorrow night is “One Starry Christmas”, I saw the previews and it looks good. Also beginning Sunday on Music Choice, Sounds of the Seasons, they are starting to play their Christmas music! I can’t wait!! Like you I ready beginning tomorrow for the Christmas season to begin!
I loved Boardwalk this season too! It was rushed and I wanted to know more about Eli’s childhood, he was my fave character by far. So sweet, loyal, wanted to do the right thing, but vulnerable and childlike still. Poor Jilian, I just wanted to hug her, esp since they did such a good job of bringing her innocence back this season.
Also, I love your Friday blog, the pics of your puppies always brighten my week, so thank you for sharing!
I was definitely a Reese’s peanut butter cup kind of girl! Now, dark chocolate speaks to my soul a little bit more… but I still love the chocolate and peanut butter combo :)
I hated the ending of Boardwalk Empire. I don’t think it made sense at all for Tommy to come back like that – he was raised with Richard’s wife away from that kind of life. Plus, I can’t help but root for Nucky.
Basically, I refuse to acknowledge the ending and have rewritten it in my head.
I love the last shot of your furry guys. Duke seems to always find a way to get as close as possible to Einstein. BTW, how is Duke doing, traininwise. I know you were working on some of his anxiety issues as well as walking behaviors so he would be all ready when the baby arrives. I hope he is doing well.
I’ve been stopping myself from turning the Christmas music on. Waiting until tomorrow. Glad I’m not the only one.
Christmas music has been playing on my Pandora for two weeks now. Love it!
Hot chocolate….love, love, love it. This may not be the time for you to try this, being preggers and all, but I like to add just a small pinch of Hungarian paprika to it. It doesn’t overwhelm, but does give a ‘didn’t see it coming’ dose of heat…if that makes any sense. Not for everyone, but I really do like it.
