Easter Recipes!
[via]
Hello and Happy March!
Is it just me, or does turning the calendar page to March feel like we’re officially marching (ahem, no pun intended) into spring? Plus, Easter is early this year, so I feel like I’m in full-on warm-weather mode. We’ve had a few glimpses of nice weather here over the last week, so I’m ready to get rolling into this new season.
I have a lot of great, seasonal recipes planned for these next handful of weeks leading up to Easter, but I’d also love to hear what you’d like to see! More desserts? More savory/main dishes/side dishes? Anything specific? Leave any and all feedback in the comments below. I can’t wait to see what you’re dying to make!
I would love to see how to make my own pecan nougat eggs. Or logs, I’m not picky. I dream about them all year long. When they start to show their delicious little selves just after Valentines day I start hording them like I’m preparing for the apocalypse and they are the only salvation.
I would love a gnocchi tutorial and recipe. I’ve never successfully made potato gnocchi before. Thank you for your wonderful site and recipes – I visit all the time!
Thanks for giving us the opportunity to run some ideas past of you of what we would like to see. I re-visit very few food blogs, but I am always on yours because nearly-every recipe is no-fail! I’d like to see some more recipes for salmon, I feel like there are very few really good ones out there. Also, maybe some more side-dishes with cauliflower. And finally, I love coffee and espresso, as do many others, maybe a cheesecake or trifle or cold summer dessert that has these flavors paired with chocolate….
That’s all! Also, I never got to congratulate about Judith joining your family. So excited for Duke and your little boys to have a new dog to love (although I can’t tell the difference between Duke and Judith lol). Einstein would be very happy to see the love for Golden Retrievers continue with his family :)
Thank you!
Please don’t wait too long to start posting Easter recipes. Seems like that’s what FTV and magazines do and then I am overwhelmed with so many “I want to make that..and the.. and that” .. but then Holiday is just a week or days from happening and recipes flood the internet and I end up saying “I can’t decide/it’s too late .. I’ll try next year.”
I know, ridiculous, right? Well, it’s a reoccurring theme. So send out some, ‘teasers’ to get me going early. Thanks!
I am looking for recipe for Italian wheat pie. Could you please help thank you
Hi Georgette, I’ve never heard of that, I’ll do some research!
This looks amazing.
Whether it’s recipes for Easter (or any other holiday) or recipes in general, I definitely prefer savory over sweet.
Would you please do a recipe for hot cross buns??? It is a European bread that is so delicious and also story behind it is wonderful!
Hi Donna, I have one! It’s an old one, but delicious! https://www.browneyedbaker.com/hot-cross-buns-recipe/

Maybe something Lent-y? A vegetarian/fish meal?
I know ham is a traditional Easter dish, and sometimes lamb. Sometimes my parents used to cook what they called “fresh ham”, but was actually a boneless pork roast. We also sometimes got from a Polish butcher, “fresh kielbasa”. This was not smoked, and had a great garlicky flavor. They only had it at Easter time. One of my bosses years ago brought in an Italian Easter recipe that his mother made every year. It was like a quiche, but made in an oblong baking pan. In addition to eggs, it used soppressatta, and “cheese in a basket”. There were other meats and cheeses also, and probably onion and a little garlic. If you have any knowledge of that dish, I’d love to have a recipe! I used to have it, but I apparently lost track of it over the years.
Hi Pam, I have a recipe for Italian Easter pie, that’s very similar to what you described, and you could totally make it in a 9×13 pan if you’d want to instead of a deep pie dish!

I so enjoy all aspects of your blog. My family loves soup. Any springtime recipes for Easter or Spring would be great. I have celiac disease so I often drual over your desserts. Sometimes I have my husband make them for other people with rave reviews. Any gluten free recipes for desserts or sides would be very welcome. Have a wonderful Easter🐣🐣
My friends mom who was very Italian always made an Easter bread that was best when toasted and tasted a bit like an English muffin only a thousand times better. I would love that if you know of anything similar.
I would also be interesting in a savory cheesecake. I have not had one but am intrigued and want to try one. I know if you post one it will be good. Thank you!

Hi Marla, I do have an Italian Easter bread recipe! It’s from my father-in-law’s family!

InstantPot recipes! I recently purchased the Ultra 6 quart and it’s been life changing! Beef Stew in 30 minutes, pot roast in 50 minutes. No more slow cooker and rice cookers!
Would love a really good hot roll recipe you can make in advance and heating instructions for the day of!
For March, and Spring and Easter, I would love some simpler and filling side dishes and yummy desserts.
Hey if you ever wanna collaborate an feature my sprinkle mixes on your website send you free sprinkles 💕💕 congrats on baby #3 on the way! I have 5 kiddos 💕Thank you! Angela
Easter ham and side dishes.
Have family coming over that are dairy free and gluten free… Besides a ham, turkey or mashed potatoes made with chicken broth and grilled veggies… would like the recipes to be able to filter out vegan, vegetarian, gluten free or dairy free recipes
Thanks!!
I can’t wait for Easter foods! Every year we always say, WHY do we only have these delicious treats once a year? I guess it makes them special then.
I always make a cake called a Daffodil cake for Easter. It was a very famous cake from Hough Bakery in Cleveland, OH when my mom was growing up. It’s a swirled angel food/citrus chiffon cake that’s kind of labor intensive (which is why the bakery only made it once a year), but it brings back wonderful memories. It’s also really light, which is nice after a heavy holiday meal. I’d love to share my recipe with you if you are interested in trying it.
Diane – would you share your recipe for daffodil cake?
I always host Easter brunch, so some wonderful breakfast / brunch dishes would be wonderful. Desserts are good as well – Easter’s all about the sweets! And did I mention some drinks for the cook as I make those labor-intensive waffles everyone demands? Maybe an Easter martini?
I would like to see crepe recipes both savory and sweet.
A fun and delicious twist on your rice krispies for Easter would be a total hit!
I just saw some at a store that were so cute…made with Fruity Pebbles and other with Fruit Loops. I think you could easily use Michelle’s recipe, but sub the cereal. You can even cut them out with egg shaped cookie cutters or a simple bunny cutter (plastic cutters work best for cutting them).
I’ve made some with Froot Loops and Rice Krispies — inspired by a recipe from Martha Stewart. Martha’s recipe called for Lucky Charms, Froot Loops and Rice Krispies. I used the original Rice Krispies Treats recipe with half Rice Krispies and half Froot Loops.
I’d love to see a fun Easter-themed dessert that both kids and adults will enjoy!
Would you happen to have a authentic Italian Easter bread recipe? I really want to try this. My grandmother BonGiorno made them every Easter. Unfortunately, that recipe was in her head & wasn’t left on a index card like so many of her other fantastic recipes. The Easter breads were either plain, lemon or anise flavor. Some were decorated with colored icing & jimmies some had colored eggs braided in a wreath shape. Thank you. Teresa:)
Hi Teresa, I do! It’s actually my father-in-law’s grandmother’s recipe, and I just added a video for it, too :)

I would definitely love some ideas for main dishes! I am hosting this year and have no idea what to make! I’m not into lamb which I know is traditional. But I definitely would love to see more main dish/side recipes.
Hi..Thank you…All your choices are awesome..However in the occasion of Easter i would like to see more Savory and side dishes recipes..Wish you ,ahead , very happy festive Days..Zouhair
Definitely more side dishes. We always have a Ham, so just like Thanksgiving, I’m all about the sides.
The title of this post is Easter Recipes! Is it just my computer being wacky and I’m the only one missing the recipes?
As for future recipe requests…any would be nice., heavier on the sweet side. I miss your recipes! Product reviews are good too and maybe some occasional food polls.
I can’t see the recipes either.
Hi Susan, I didn’t share Easter recipes, but was looking for feedback on what types of Easter recipes might want to see in the coming weeks. However, you can browse all the Easter recipes I have on the site here: https://www.browneyedbaker.com/category/holidays-special-occasions/easter-recipes/
Hi Michelle!
I so enjoy your blog, having moved from Pittsburgh two years ago I really miss the city and you bring it all back to me!
Can you tell me where to buy the sprinkles on this page? I love the color assortment and can’t find it anywhere. Thanks for the great job you do every day, you have a beautiful family!

This is the little link under the photo.
Hi Sharon, There’s a link under the picture, but here you go (I know the link says Halloween, but it goes to the spring ones!): https://www.fancysprinkles.com/products/halloween-crunchy-jimmies
I am so ready for Spring and Easter recipes too! This year I’m going to make Easter Bunny Bread with fresh Vegie Dip and vegies again – the photos didn’t turn out so well last year, but my little ones LOVED making this the day before Easter, and everyone devoured it on Easter Sunday – it was a huge hit! Any recipes or ideas that you might have to feed a crowd for an Easter brunch that are out-of-the-ordinary would be wonderful! Happy Spring Michelle!

Your kids might like to make stuffed “carrot” crescents. I made them last year and everyone loved them. You basically cut strips of crescent dough (I use the sheets but you can use the triangles and pinch together) and wrap them around a foil cone. Brush with orange tinted egg wash and bake. Then I stuffed them with a chunky veggie herb dip and a sprig of parsley out of the top for the carrot top. My 5 year old loved to make them with me. I also was able to bake off the carrot part and make the dip a day ahead of time. Then just threw them together a couple of hours ahead of time and kept them refrigerated.
That’s so cute, Diane! Such an awesome idea!
Oh I’ve seen this before and I LOVE the idea!! I bet the boys would love this!
How are you doing with the instantpot?
Hi Sarah, I’ve done some dabbling, but it’s been insane here with us being sick so much in the last couple of months that I haven’t gotten a chance to do a ton of experimenting.
I would love to see more main and side dishes. Some other options other than ham would be wonderful.
More veggie side dishes please.
Love your recipes, but would like to see occasional low carb friendly ones. Thanks.
I’d love combination recipes. Main course, side dish, and dessert
