Friday Things
1. I’m totally biased, but I think that this might be the best baby picture in the history of baby pictures. My husband snapped this last weekend and I can’t stop staring at it. This week has been especially fun with Joseph – he’s starting to mimic our sounds, so when we say “hello” he concentrates for a second, opens his mouth, and then attempts to replicate the same noise. If my husband vibrates his lips like a motor boat, Joseph tries to do the same thing then breaks out in a huge smile. It’s awesome to watch; I love watching this little man discover new things.
2. Yesterday I went shopping for a dress to wear to Joseph’s baptism. Apparently, this season’s dress style is fitted at the waist, then puckered out. So not the type of style that flatters a new mom’s drastically transformed waistline. Or your average, run-of-the-mill, pear-shaped short girl. Thank goodness Loft came through with a very simple black v-neck fit and flare dress. Crisis averted.
3. Earlier this week, I dropped The Joy of Cooking on my foot. It was quite the opposite of joyful. I had flashbacks to spending the September and October of fourth grade in a cast with a broken foot. Luckily, the cookbook didn’t take out my foot for a second time.
4. I love this 21 Things That Happened on Friends That Would Baffle Kids Today – it makes me feel old and already nostalgic for a less hectic, more simplistic time. Plus, that show was pretty much my whole life in high school… I still get warm fuzzies thinking about Rachel sitting at the window and hearing U2 in the background.
5. This Baking Pan Conversion Chart is everything you’ll ever need for scaling a recipe or troubleshooting when you don’t have the size pan a particular recipe calls for! (h/t Allrecipes.com)
6. Remember those adult coloring books that I told you about a couple of weeks ago? My sister bought them for me for my birthday! I’m so excited to break them out and start coloring!
7. We’re on to season four of 24 and while it’s good, I’m missing a lot of the characters from the earlier seasons. The new ones haven’t really grown on me yet, but I love watching Jack Bauer kick butt.
8. I’m getting a haircut tomorrow and I am ecstatic to say the least. It hasn’t been trimmed since early November and it hasn’t been colored since before I got pregnant, so it’s been over a year now. To say that I’m overdue would be the ultimate understatement. I’m excited to get freshened up.
9. What do you have planned for the Easter holiday? We’re going to be spending it at my mom’s with a ton of family and my in-laws. I can’t wait to put together Joseph’s first Easter basket!
10. TGIF! Duke wants to know if you’ll play with him?
What a beautiful picture of a beautiful baby! I have a thing for cleft chins (husband and 1 of our 2 kids have them :) )
He is pretty much the most adorable lil’ one I’ve ever seen. So happy for you! Gerber baby status?
He is so stinkin’ cute!
Hi Michelle,

Your son is so sweet! Nice photo! Where is Einstein? Haven’t seen him for a while.
Yes so adorable your boys. I so wanted to bake Italian Easter Bread, hot X buns et al but broke my ankle so have no free arms .. so frustrating. Will salivate when I read what you and family and others imbibe over Easter. Enjoy
Well, I think all of your “boys” including the furry ones are adorable. But, I think the latest picture of Joseph is beyond adorable. He is soooooo cute!
Happy Easter to you and your family! Adorable little boy you have! Missed Einstein this Friday. Is he on watch for the Easter Bunny?
He is adorable and that is an awesome photo. Those eyes!! Enjoy your haircut!
Joseph is an astonishingly gorgeous baby!
Enjoy every moment with him!
Happy Easter to your family!
Happy Easter!
Michelle,
Your little man is gorgeous. I don’t think you’re biased at all.
I wish I could have a play date with Duke and the hubby would love it too but our puppy would find out we cheated on her.
Annamaria
Almost forgot… Happy Easter.

Ga-ga! What a stunning baby you have. That picture is perfect:)
Wow – your little Joseph is so cute! I love his dimpled chin and his eyes are killer!
Two beautiful photos! Quite an achievement to be as photogenic as a Golden Retriever…
What a little sweetie pie your Joseph is — he’s adorable! And I think that I see a little dimple in his chin — how sweet he is. A very Happy Easter to you and your whole family, Michelle!!!
Joseph is beautiful baby. Looks like he already has brown eyes and long eye lashes.
I just wanted to share with you that I think your son is absolutely adorable! I look forward to reading your Friday Things every Friday morning at work! Thank you for blogging, and enjoy your weekend!
I think Joseph is the most precious baby ever. Enjoy every moment.
I love allrecipes! however there are some problems with their chart conversions. no way will 2-9 inch pans equal 2-8 inch pans. the wilton website offers a nicer chart with baking times, serving sizes and frosting requirements. hope this helps.
happy Easter!!
Happy Good Friday and Easter Weekend…at my house we are still trying to decide the Easter menu…lol…talk about putting it off till the last minute! Joseph gets cuter with every picture – he has such beautiful big eyes and chubby cheeks for kissing! Thanks for the pan conversion chart – will definitely come in handy! I don’t know that I would play with Duke that much but I would definitely pet him a lot….lol
Happy Easter to you! That is a beautiful pic of your son, and your dog! Gorgeous subjects. Thanks for the pan conversion chart. I once dropped a glass 9 x 13 pan on my big toe; the nail turned dark purple and took a year to grow out and fall off. It still hurts sometimes, years later. I’m making your sugar cookies today for Easter.
Have a wonderful weekend.
I look forward to Friday Things … First mail I open on Friday !!! To start the day on a happy note. Joseph is so beautiful and I can tell you are enjoying every second of him HAPPY EASTER
Duke can come play here, we have a big fenced in yard, lots of chickens, ducks and a few cats to chase. Watch out for the guineas, they peck back!
Joseph IS a beautiful child. He keeps getting cuter with each picture you share. Have a splendid Easter.
Hi, Michelle! I’ve been a longtime reader (umm, 7 years??), and although I don’t comment often at all, I just have to say that you were/are one of my biggest inspirations for starting a food blog. I love your stuff. All of it. And your blog will always have a special place in my heart as being the first food blog I ever started reading. Sooooo, thank you for all that you do and continuing to keep it up even after having that adorable Joseph of yours.
That being said, I have only just started reading your Friday Things (I used to mostly just skim) and I’m wondering how much awesome stuff I’ve missed over the years!! Hahahaha. That pan conversion chart is on point, as is the Friends list. I was cracking up over that one!
Ok, now that I’ve left you the longest comment… I hope you have a wonderful Easter weekend! I’m off to the kitchen to make all the desserts!
I got the books too. So pretty! They mention using felt tip pens to color. So that’s what i got, a pack of 50 markers :-)
what are you going to use to color the coloring books with? I’m getting mine today and am trying to figure out what an adult would use on these. Crayons?
