Friday Things #484
1. The kids had so much fun this week meeting up with different friends at different parks in our area. Joseph got to see a good friend of his from preschool that he hadn’t seen in three years, and boy, his face was just completely lit up for hours after we came home. Old friends are always good for the soul ❤️
2. Do you do all of these? >> The Things Everyone Should Clean Everyday
3. And while we’re on the subject, how do you unload the dishwasher? The method in this article is basically what I do!
4. I recently saw that Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo is being made into a Netflix movie. I read the book last summer and loved it! I’m currently reading Malibu Rising (also by Taylor Jenkins Reid), hoping to finish it shortly! What are you reading right now?
5. Speaking of books, if you love audiobooks, or have been wanting to try them, Amazon is currently offering a 3-month free trial of Audible.
6. On Instagram last weekend, I did “hot takes” in my stories… I did this once before and it was so much fun! People leave their unpopular opinions, then I post them and add my opinion. A prevalent topic? How much people strongly dislike summer and, aside from my kids being home from school, which I love, I totally agree. I much prefer cooler, cozier days!
7. But also, seeing Halloween costumes in stores already seems so incredibly wrong! Give me cooler weather but don’t rush the time away!
8. Today is National Hamburger Day! Perhaps some cast iron skillet cheeseburgers to celebrate if it’s a tad too hot to grill outside today?
9. Trying very hard to do better at #2 on this list >> How to Stop Being Late… The transitions with kids always takes longer and remembering to take them into account helps so much. Three kids using the bathroom, filling water bottles, getting shoes on, getting themselves into the car, buckled up, etc. MUCH more time than just me getting out the door.
10. TGIF! These faces!! 🤩🤩
Currently reading The Turn of the Key by Ruth Ware. I like her books.
Listening to The Covenant of Water…about 4 hours in…it’s 31 hours!!! Good so far!🤞
Just finished Remarkably Bright Creatures…great book. Reading Lessons in Chemistry now and it’s great so far too…looks like it will be on Apple TV in the fall too!
I’m reading The Castaways by Elin Hilderbrand. I love a bit of chick lit in between crime/suspense novels. It’s a bit darker than some of her other books. Previous reads include A Game of Lies by Clare Macintosh and Everyone Here Is Lying by Shari LaPena both of which were great. Re:daily cleaning…I do almost all of those automatically.
I loooove summer. Spring next, then fall and winter. Summer never lasts long enough.
Looks like your sweet little girl has inherited your beautiful curly hair. You hair is quite dark so I am guessing the blond comes from someone else close in the family..
I hope Dominic’s doing well, continuing to make progress and having a great summer with his siblings.
I’ve read Swan light last and reading The Witch of Tin Mountain both are free books on Amazon. Harder to get thru The Witch. Just like the third season of Witcher. Love your doggies.
I love when you do those Hot Takes on Instagram – it’s so funny to read how people respond. I loved adding my two cents. LOL. I second Kate’s book recommendations – the two books by by Sadeqa Johnson. I read them and really enjoyed both. I would also recommend any book by Marie Benedict or Lisa See. Both do a lot of research and tell a wonderful story.
Sweet Puppy Faces!
Read “The House of Eve” by Sadeqa Johnson and also her “Yellow Wife”. Recommend both.
Love reading these about you and your family.. Always special to see the kids really enjoying themselves and having fun.
Keep them coming.
God Bless You All 🤗🥰
I love unloading the dishwasher! I unload almost exactly as described in the article, except I unload the top first. To avoid the lower rack of dishes getting wet, I simply do not pull out the bottom rack until I am done unloading the top!
I am currently reading “The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue.” I highly recommend it.
Summer is often for fun, light reads, but I just finished “The First Lady of WWII” by Shannon MeKenna Schmidt. An amazing account of a journey made by Eleanor Roosevelt and another peek into that “greatest generation”. Loved it! Enjoy these last weeks of summer-every season holds its own magic!
I just finished reading The Maid by Nita Prose. I thought it was an excellent read!
