Friday Things #487
1. This picture I snapped of Isabelle just screams summer to me! I cannot believe that our kids start school next week; this summer has flown by and I am so grateful that we were able to do a lot of fun things. I think everyone is ready for the return of some routines, but gosh, I miss them so much when they’re at school and really love when everyone is home ❤️
2. Yesterday, Dominic had his first two of a total of five tests (four scans and one biopsy) between this week and next week. This is the biggest workup he’s had since being diagnosed last March; the collective results will determine if he is considered free of active disease or if there is more work to be done 💙🙏🏻
3. Do you have any tips for smooth school mornings? I have found that #2 is key for me!
4. I saw someone using this cob corn stripper on Instagram and my mind was blown. I wish I’d had it while Joseph still had his braces, but this is amazing if you’re using fresh corn on the cob in recipes!
5. Love this mindset (from the book Atomic Habits by James Clear) >> “Goals are for people who care about winning once. Systems are for people who care about winning repeatedly.”
6. If you’re looking for a dessert to prolong that summer feeling, classic lemon meringue pie is perfect – bright and fresh!
7. Some really great ideas >> 7 Tips For a Slow and Intentional Day
8. A quick note that the slow cooker I recommended in yesterday’s crock pot mac and cheese recipe is currently 23% off on Amazon, in case you’re in the market for a new one.
9. For my fellow crocheters and knitters, have you seen this yarn storage hack? So cool!
10. TGIF! Judith is the world’s best snuggler 🩷
I’m praying for the best outcome for Dominic’s test results 🙏🏼❤️🙏🏼
We will be praying that Dominic’s results show he is free of active disease.
Praying for Dominic and your family. He is such a brave boy. I hope your children have a wonderful school year. 🙏❤🌞
I’m glad to see you posting again and seeing updates about your sweet family (including the dogs! I love seeing their furry faces). Prayers for positive scan results and love, love, love the picture with you and Judith. That is exactly what every heart needs.
Positive thoughts and vibes for Dominic; we are all rooting for you. Here’s to another school year of discovery, adventure and friendship for all three of your children. What a sweet family you gave Michelle.
🙏🏻🙏🏻prayers for Dominic❤️A great, new school year for your children!
Such cute pictures as always! We are still keeping Dominic in our prayers. Love the last picture of that loveable dog and you I’m assuming! The kids are just precious! Hope you have a good back to school day!
When I learned how to knit in Girl Scouts MANY years ago, we put our ball of yarn into a round oatmeal container with a hole punched in the plastic lid. We covered the containers with Contact Paper. Worked like a charm!
Praying for Dominic and family. You and Judith look so cozy. Have a good weekend.
Praying for all good new with Dominic’s tests. As someone who has just gone through a crazy 6 months of chemo with stage 4 non-Hodgkins lymphoma I can’t even fathom how strong he must be to have gone through everything that he has. He seems like an amazing kid!
My favorite corn cob stripper is the OXO one. Lay the cob on a flat surface instead of standing it upright and the kernels come off great without flying all over the place.
I pray Dominic is cancer free ! It’s been such a long road & all of you need clear scans so you can all relax . Looking forward to hearing the good news ! Dominic’s a fighter !!! It will all workout ! Good luck with the new school year !!! Love to you all 😊
Oh, my goodness! This was a great way to start my weekend! First, keeping Dominic in my prayers that tests results come back with good news. Your opening pictures were just delightful and yes, screamed—-SummerJoy! It is heartwarming to hear you say how much you will miss them when school starts. I remember the feeling.
I loved the quote from Atomic Habits- definitely keeping that as a reminder. I also loved the hints for a tranquil day—another reminder, even if not possible everyday with normal life duties, but good to hear.
Thanks again for a great post, hope you and your family have a nice weekend.
PS- not too sure just which one of you looked more peaceful, you or Judith ☺️
Praying every day for Dominic and your family and many many prayers for good news at the end of this current round of tests. I always love reading your weekly Friday Things and Weekend Dish columns. You always have the very best recipes too! Thank you!
