Friday Things #520

1. On Monday and Tuesday this week, we traveled to New York for Dominic’s scans and 6th neuroblastoma vaccine. On our way home, his oncologist called to tell us that his scans are still clear of disease and he remains in remission 🙏🏻🙌🏻 Thank you to everyone who continues to pray for him and send good thoughts his way! His next vaccine injection will not be for another five months, but we will go back around mid-summer for routine scans.
2. We made the most of the beautiful weather on Monday and the fact that his appointments were done at noon and ventured to Central Park for the afternoon. Dominic had been wanting to see the statue of Balto the sled dog ever since reading the book many months ago, and was so excited to finally see it in person. Then we went to the Central Park Zoo, and he got a big, messy ice cream cone on the way back to the hotel 😄
3. A couple of weeks ago while the kids were still on break, they were hanging out and playing, and Isabelle got herself a chair to sit on, a tiara and wand, and announced that she was the queen. She hired Dominic as her pirate/guard and told Joseph that if he didn’t stop talking about sports, he’d have to leave the kingdom 😂
4. I love a good post on fridge organization 🤓
5. On that note, I also love checklists and this 6/10 cleaning method has me intrigued! I’ve been trying to do one load of laundry a day for a year or two now and it’s definitely a game changer. I’m always amazed when I skip a day because when I do it everyday, the loads aren’t terribly large, but when I miss one day, suddenly it turns into a MASSIVE load of laundry and then of course folding and putting away takes longer!
6. Have you made any favorite dinner or dessert recipes lately? I’d love to hear what everyone is loving in their own kitchens!
7. Now that the weather is getting warmer, I’m wondering if anyone has a good recommendation for cooler to use for keeping food cold after a trip to the grocery store? I went to Costco before picking up the kids from school a couple of weeks ago and it was warm; while I did grab a thermal bag and some ice packs, it wasn’t nearly large enough to fit the Costco-sized things I needed to put in it! I’ve seen many people mention the Scout cooler bags for pools/beach and this one is the biggest I could find, but I’m wondering if anyone has used them for this grocery purpose? Of if you have any other recommendations? I’m not really looking to invest in something like a large Yeti cooler or something like that.
8. And since we’re talking about warmer weather, does anyone have a self-tanner that they love? I haven’t used one in years, but want to give it a spin this year. Give me your best recommendations!
9. TV things… I don’t believe we finished either of the couple of shows we were watching, but just started Time (BritBox) and have watched the first couple of episodes, and so far it’s very good!
10. TGIF! Sweet Duke says hi!

Michelle my dear,
First of all how’s sweet Domi doing? I and my friends want to know as we have joined you in prayer for his quick and full recovery…
I haven’t received any communication from you in a long time… Has my email been dropped from your list in error?
Please do take a minute for a brief response…. MANY SPECIAL THANKS!
Hello Michelle,
I hope this finds y’all in great health especially little Domi.
I haven’t received any recipes, nor news, for some time now and DO hope everything has been going well with you and family…
Do stay blessed,
Marie
So happy for Domenic and family. I hope he continues to be in remission and can put cancer behind him.
We made a special trip to NYC, specifically Central Park, to see the statue of Balto when my son was in the 2nd grade. Silly me, I thought CP would have signs directing you. Or a map. Or people that spoke English working in the park. After wandering around for a few hours (had his grandmother and 2yo sister with us), and nearly wetting my pants (also cannot find bathrooms), we finally gave up for the day. The next day, our first stop was at a visitor center where I had to buy a map that directed us to the statue. This was in 2004, and Google and the Central Park website was not sophisticated at all.
So happy for Dominic and all of you.🩷
I always love to read the “Weekend Dish.” I feel like I’m catching up with my friend. I always love to read the good news about Dominic. I’m glad you add fun to your NY trip! I’m curious, what kind of icecream did you get? We had a severe Thunderstorm the other day. I love it! My husband not so much! Here in Texas, tornado time is April and May. But luckily we put in a storm shelter. And, I might add we have had to use it a few times. If we get the warning early of a tornado, my sweet husband goes down in the shelter and cleans it of any spiders, critters and cobwebs! Otherwise, I would just have to be taken up by the tornado. If you ever just want to get away…..we live in the country, and you could stay in our home. Kind of like VRBO, but not. We have 10 kids and 31 grandkids so we travel frequently to visit them. Thanks for all the good you to for so many!
You are so kind, Shrilene! And what a beautiful family you have to enjoy! The ice cream cone just came from an ice cream truck on the street :)
So happy that Dominic is doing so well. I pray for him every day and am trusting for his complete healing.
Your dogs are so lovely!
So happy to hear Dominic’s good news!!!!! Will continue go pray for your beautiful family. ❤🙏I’m a native New Yorker and have only been to Central Park once, many years ago.
Continued prayers for you and your family. What good news about Dominic!! Blessed!
