Friday Things #524

1. I had such a lovely Mother’s Day with our families, and I feel so blessed every day that these three call me Mom (or Mommy or Mama 😄). Getting to love them and watch them grow is the greatest gift.
2. Speaking of growing, Isabelle is finishing kindergarten today! I cannot believe how much growing she has done this year… she has turned into a little social butterfly, and the amount she has learned in terms of reading, writing, and math is just astounding. I am so proud of her and can’t wait to spend the summer hanging out with my favorite people!
3. And speaking of summer, I keep seeing people I follow on Instagram talk about getting their “adventure bags” or “car bags” ready for summer. Do you have a bag that you keep in the car (or close to where you leave your house) that’s packed with stuff ready for summer outings? If so, what do you keep in it?
4. Have you ever tried the cleaning one room a day routine? I’ve loosely tried to follow the Clean Mama routine but have really never made it through an entire week on schedule 😅 Maybe I’ll just give individual rooms a try!
5. Did you get to see the northern lights last weekend?? We didn’t see them here, it was very cloudy when we went out to look and we couldn’t see anything, but I’ve been in awe of others’ photos who were able to catch a glimpse!
6. My husband asked me this week if I could make noodle kugel sometime soon; it’s been AGES since I’ve made it!
7. A great read >> Wake Up to New Potential Today

8. I finished reading Yours Truly (in just a week!) and loved it; I’m now onto Just for the Summer, the last of my Abby Jimenez binge! I usually try to alternate lighter reads with historical fiction or other popular books (not romcoms), but once I started in on the first book, I couldn’t stop! It helped that there were familiar characters and settings threaded through all of the books.
9. We recently watched The North Water, which is based on a novel (it follows an arctic whaling expedition), and it was pretty good. We’re currently watching C.B. Strike and in the second season, it’s gotten increasingly better as it’s gone along!
10. TGIF! Freshly groomed and smelling so good!

Beautiful family. God Bless.
When my kids were younger, I kept extra clothes, wipes, bandaids, snacks(non-perishable) paper towels, couple of old towels, hand sanitizer and a first-aid kit in the back of the vehicle I drove. We could go hiking, or to the zoo or wherever and it didn’t matter if they got super dirty, muddy, etc. Once my youngest fell off a pier into a lake and I was so grateful that I had towels and clothes for her to dry off and wear. Think I had a blanket too- now I feel a little unprepared when I go and look for my ‘stash’ and it’s no longer there. Reading ‘The Six’ about the first women astronauts, so interesting to see how much things have thanks for sharing the lovely pics!
Oh my goodness! Joseph is going to be taller than you soon! All the kids are getting big. Cherish these sweet days with them.
Hi Michelle!
I love the photo you included. How do you make time to read??? Amazing! You must be a fast reader!
Happy Summer!
Once I got back into reading a couple of years ago, I definitely read at a slower pace and it has increased a bit over time. I usually carve out time to read while I’m sitting in the school pickup line, and in the evening after Isabelle goes to bed, the boys get to watch a show that she doesn’t really like or might be a little too much for her right now, and while they watch I sit on the couch with them and read :)
Love the picture of you and your kiddos! Happy belated Mother’s Day!
I did get to see the Northern Lights. My son is home on leave, he’s a Marine, and was hanging out with friends when he called me at 23:40 to get up and bring my winter coat. He and his friends were up Big Cottonwood Canyon. At first you could only see them with the camera, then around 01:30, you could see them with the naked eye. It was amazing and I was so thankful I got to share a special moment with my son. It made for a wonderful Mother’s Day. I never know when he will be able to come home.
Freshly groomed pups are the best! They always looks so soft too.
I tried the one room cleaning. Epic fail for me. After work then dinner I am done. I always wind up with Saturday for cleaning. I’ve accepted it. LOL
Have a wonderful weekend!!
Many years ago I used to practice some of FlyLady.net cleaning and organizing habits. Sometimes everyday just doesn’t work. It is hard to find the balance between everyday chores and letting it pile up and feeling “behind”
I’ve tried the Clean Mama routine too with varying success. The plan is fine, but man, there are days when I just can’t, either because I’m not home or the work day has kicked my behind. And then I have to do twice as much the next day. So, I work the plan that works for me, my husband and our house. :) And we’re good with that.
…. AND WHAT A BLESSED BEAUTIFUL FAMILY…..
Your Friday message is always anticipated but today you included a reference to “Waking up to potential”. A simple but profound and practical message. Thank you for sharing this gem, and for allowing us to watch your beautiful family grow. So especially thankful for Dominic’s amazing progress.
Michelle, I absolutely adore the sweet picture of you, Joseph, Dominic and Isabelle! You’re such a beautiful family and I’ve really enjoyed watching them grow. I kind of feel like a proud grandma! Thank you for sharing your recipes, precious children and life with us, Michelle! 🫶
I enjoy your blogs & recipes so much.
