The Weekend Dish: 2/22/2020
Hello and happy Saturday to you!
I hope you’ve had a fantastic week and all is well in your corner of the world. It was FREEZING here the last couple of days, so I’m looking forward to a little bit of warmth this weekend. I would love to get more snow (we’ve only had one real snowfall this year!) but if it’s not going to snow, then it might as well just be warm!
What are you up to this weekend? Any fun plans? Fill me in!
As always, you’ll find a recap of what was posted to the site this week, the most shared recipes, my Sunday dinner menu, and recipes I’ve bookmarked from other blogs. Enjoy!
On Brown Eyed Baker This Week
Orange Cookies with Sweet Orange Glaze – These soft, buttery orange cookies are flavored with orange zest and orange juice, and iced with a sweet orange glaze. Their old-fashioned flavor will remind you of your grandma’s kitchen!
Grandma’s Banana Nut Bread – My grandma’s recipe for banana nut bread is a classic banana bread recipe packed full of mashed bananas and chopped walnuts; it can be prepped in 10 minutes and bakes up super moist and dense. A family favorite!
Friday Things #359 – Lost teeth, storytime, water heaters, morning routines, TV, and more…

Fluffy Buttermilk Pancakes (We make these every single Saturday morning, no exceptions. My husband and Joseph get blueberry, Dominic and I like chocolate chip, and Isabelle will happily eat both 😍)
Classic Chicken Noodle Soup (I am not exaggerating when I say I’ve made four pots of this soup in the last three weeks.)
Sunday Dinner Menu
Pigs in a Blanket (but full size!)
BBQ Beans

As is weeknight peanut noodles, mmmmm.
I haven’t had oatmeal cookies in ages and these dark chocolate chunk oatmeal cookies have me craving them big time!
Crispy chicken tacos with cilantro-lime ranch, yessssss!
I love a hearty slow cooker meal! >> Slow Cooker Beef Stroganoff Stew
Have a delicious weekend!
Just made your Pumpkin Doughnut Muffins for
breakfast. My family went nuts! Delicious 😋
Lots of good recipes to try on this weekend blog. Thank u for the great choices. Peanut noodles (will add some chicken), stroganoff stew, korean chicken, and your weekend pancakes made me want some good pancakes. The last pancakes I had at a meal was on our cruise to Alaska over 2 years ago…too long to go without pancakes😊
I saw “pigs in a blanket” and thought you were making stuffed cabbage rolls, and got a little bit excited . . . . I am ever on the search for a good recipe for those and even a good video tutorial or photograph tutorial on how to make these. Being born, raised, and still living in Pittsburgh all my life, I’ve had some delicious stuffed cabbage, pigs in a blanket, cabbage rolls – all of those being names for this wonderful dish. The best ones I’ve ever had have been layered with sauerkraut and then cooked on the stovetop. I guess my search will continue . . . .
I need to try to find my grandma’s or my great aunt’s recipe, I’ve never made them myself! *putting it on my list!*
I just made Sally’s dark chocolate chunk oatmeal cookies a couple of hours ago, and they were awesome!
So good to know, thanks for sharing! :)
