The 10 Most Popular Recipes of 2020
The BEST RECIPES of 2020! Everything from dessert, dip, condiments, bread, and side dishes. Check it out and see if your favorite made the list!
Phew, what a year this has been. At this time a year ago, I don’t think anyone could have predicted how absolutely insane 2020 would be. While it was very much surreal a lot of the time, I think many of us tried to fill our days with delicious recipes and making the best of a crazy situation.
In keeping with tradition, it wouldn’t be the week between Christmas and New Year’s without the annual roundup of the most popular recipes on BEB.
I always love putting together this list and uncovering which recipes really stood out among readers throughout the year. I’d love to hear if your favorite made the list, and if it didn’t, tell me what it was!
Here we go!
Fluffy and Crisp Buttermilk Waffles
These classic buttermilk waffles are easy to make and come out fluffy and crisp each and every time. It’s a must-have recipe for turning an ordinary morning into something extra-special. Whether you choose to top the waffles with the standard butter and syrup, fresh fruit, whipped cream, sprinkles, chocolate chips, or some combination… you are going to fall in love with this waffle recipe!
Buffalo Chicken Dip
This buffalo chicken dip recipe is an easy classic that features three different layers of flavors including chicken mixed with your favorite hot sauce (I always go for Frank’s RedHot!), cream cheese, ranch dressing, and, of course, lots of cheese!
Garlic-Herb & Parmesan Roasted Red Potatoes
These are the BEST roasted red potatoes! Full of flavor from the garlic and herbs, and the Parmesan cheese forms a crust on the potatoes… Delicious!
Key Lime Pie
This quick and easy key lime pie recipe starts with a graham cracker crust and has a filling consisting of egg yolks, sweetened condensed milk, key lime juice & zest. Topped with fresh whipped cream and a lime twist garnish, it’s a super refreshing pie that tastes like the tropics and is a must-make this summer!

Grandma’s Banana Nut Bread
My grandma’s recipe for banana bread is a classic banana bread recipe packed full of mashed bananas and chopped walnuts; it can be prepped in 10 minutes and bakes up super moist and dense. A family favorite!
Classic Burger Sauce
If you dig the sauce on Big Macs or the “special sauce” that high-end sandwich joints slather on their burgers, you are going to LOVE this burger sauce!
And now, THE most popular recipe on Brown Eyed Baker in 2020…
My Favorite White Bread Recipe
This is a classic white bread recipe, and so easy! The loaves bake up incredibly tall, soft and fluffy… the perfect white bread! It has a perfect 5.0 rating with over 1,000 reviews; it’s the best bread recipe for beginner bread bakers or those nervous to work with yeast.
I want to know – what was YOUR favorite Brown Eyed Baker recipe this year?
Thank you for helping to make 2020 as normal as possible for our little community; wishing you all the health and happiness that 2021 has to offer! xo
I’ve made the Oreo Cheesecake so many times I can’t count but I’ve had no complaints from my family! It always bakes perfectly & is delicious. I don’t think I’ve ever made a BEB recipe that was a disappointment!
My well loved printout of your “best chili” recipe is oh so sauce-stained, a bit crumpled, and the first thing I refer to on cold New England days when I need inspiration for a hearty lunch/dinner! Paired with skillet corn bread, this is my favorite chili of all time. Thank you!!!
I tried your Gougères recipe for Thanksgiving and they were fantastic! I love your blog! Also, the hamburger sauce is indispensable all summer long for grilled burgers! Keep up the good work, and have a happy new year!
My daughter and I made your cut out sugar cookies with royal frosting this Christmas and they are the best cut outs ever! I have made many of your recipes throughout the years and they are all fantastic!
Happy New Year!
We make your Chipotle Chicken all the time, even in “winter” here in Florida. Thanks for all the recipes but more so, thank you for the optimism, joy and sunshine that the pictures of your family (including dogs) brought during this somewhat dismal year! (And your Friday and Saturday posts that helped me to know what day it was! HA)
Happy New Year, From one Michele to another. My fave recipe was the apple cake. It was perfect for Rosh Hashanah this crazy year! I look forward to another year of deliciousness and your family.
I have made many of the recipes from your site, and have enjoyed all of them. So far my husband is a huge fan of your chili recipe. But two nights ago we had burgers and I made your recipe for “special burger sauce.” The accolades were unbelievable – I deserve none of them, so I’m passing them on to you. My husband could not stop raving over the burger with the “wonderful sauce,” how “fabulous” it was. Thanks so much for turning what is usually a bland burger into a smashing success.
I have made many of your recipes over the past couple of years. My husband and I love the scalloped potatoes, chili and many others. Two nights ago we had burgers with the “special” sauce and my husband went wild over it. You would have thought I had fixed the most extravagant meal ever -I do love to cook!-but his reaction was insane.
Thanks for making what is usually a very ordinary meal quite extraordinary!
Everything I have made from your site is delicious. One of mine and my families favorites is your banana split pie, it has made two appearances in the last two months (as requested by hosts) and a third one this weekend. I changed the crust and used crushed vanilla sandwich cookies with melted butter. OMG! My family went crazy! Nut’s I tell you. With the left over crushed cookies, at severing I sprinkled them over the top. Just when you think something couldn’t get better it does. My nephew’s graduation party is this weekend, instead of cake he has requested this pie.
Hi Michelle, I’ve made a variation of one or 10 ;-) of your cheesecakes over the years. I also made your corn casserole three times over the holidays and have made your roasted potatoes probably weekly this year. Thanks for all of your quality and classic recipes!
Michelle’s corn casserole is sooo good! I love that one, too.
Your crock pot mac and cheese is always on my Thanksgiving menu! Soooo good!!! I have also made your garlic herb & parmesan roasted red potatoes when we have had family over – always a hit!!
Omg sooo many did not make your list. Creamed corn casserole, beef enchiladas, white chicken chili, and how about the many many baked goods. Too many delicious things to count up the faves. They’re all usually great. Look forward to more new deliciousness in 2020. Happy New Year. Many blessings to you and your family.
Oh my gosh! These all look incredible! That burger sauce and those potatoes look like an award winning combo!

Classic apple pie and bakery style rice krispies 😋!
Two of our favorites made the list: roasted potatoes & crock pot mac & cheese.
The recipe I make the most is the meat sauce recipe-can’t believe that didn’t make the list tho!
