The Weekend Dish: 9/9/2017
Happy happy weekend to you!
To all of you in Florida, I hope that you’ve evacuated safely by now; you and your families and your homes will be in my thoughts and prayers as the state braces for Hurricane Irma. I hope you all are spared any significant damage; we have several family and friends there who have stayed, so we’re keeping a close eye on the storm.
Whether you’re prepping for a hurricane or are somewhere in another part of the country or world, are you doing any baking this weekend? Fill me in on your week and your plans for the next couple of days!
As always, you’ll find a recap of what was posted to the site this week, the most shared recipes, my Sunday dinner menu, and recipes I’ve bookmarked from other blogs. Enjoy!

Recipes and posts from other blogs that I thought looked especially delicious and that I thought you would like, too:
I’m not sure if I’ve mentioned this recipe for steak fajitas before, but I’ve made them a few times now (they were dinner last night!) and they ALWAYS get rave reviews. Definitely a favorite recipe of ours (and it’s crazy easy!).
Totally snatching up some peaches on sale and making this peach crisp before the season is officially over.
These caramel crunch bars are the perfect combination of salty and sweet!
Snickers. Caramel. Tart. ::mic drop::
Oh, I could eat SO MUCH of this restaurant-style olive oil and herb bread dip.
Have a delicious weekend!
Thanks for thinking of us in Florida. I am in West Palm Beach and I am one of very few people who still has power but we are very fortunate the storm went west. However the rest of my family is just north of Fort Myers so we will see how they do. I really enjoy your recipes and weekly pictures of your boys.Â
Hi. I tried ur recipe , it turned to b excellent, but after tasting it , I felt there was a bitterness after taste . Pls help me to solve the problem.
I wondered if the recipe for steak fajitas you like so much was the same as the one I like so much — and it is! Â Simply Recipes was one of the first food/cooking blogs I started following 10+ years ago. Â It’s amazing how many of Elise’s recipes are in my regular rotation (and though she’s got more contributors now, I still prefer Elise’s recipes). Â
Not to worry, there are many BEB recipes in my regular rotation, too. Â Scalloped potatoes (absolutely the BEST), the chili and roasted potatoes mentioned above, best ever meat sauce and more. Â As much as I say I have a serious sweet tooth, 99 our of 100 recipes I save are savory rather than sweet. Â
I don’t know if I’ll have time for baking, between errands, cleaning, birthday party, and watering the yard…but I do need to restock my freezer with pasta sauce, so at some point I’ll be making up a big batch and putting it in individual freezer containers for busy weeknights!
Would love a post about your eggplant parmigiana. Hint, hint.Â
Yessssss :) See my reply above ;-)
Will you please share your eggplant parm recipe? Any good veal/chicken parm recipes? Also looking for a go to Fett Alfredo. Thank you!
Yay! Â Someone besides me is asking for that recipe! Â
Ahhhh yes, my father-in-law’s recipe is THE BEST! I need to make it myself so I can share it here, but I’m lazy and just enjoy it when he makes it, ha! I promise to get on it!
Love this chicken parm recipe: http://www.simplyrecipes.com/recipes/chicken_parmesan/
And this is the best fettuccine alfredo: https://www.chef-in-training.com/2015/07/perfect-homemade-alfredo-sauce/
You are wonderful…thank you!
