Copycat Bloomin’ Onion Dipping Sauce
This dipping sauce tastes exactly like the one you’ll find at Outback Steakhouse and is perfect for your favorite onion rings!
About ten years ago, I was on a serious Outback Steakhouse takeout bender. Anytime I was in the vicinity of one around mealtime, I would get an order of their chicken tenders (my favorite!). They are wonderfully crunchy and delicious, and the only thing that tops them is the famous bloomin’ onion. Talk about addicting! While the onion itself is amazing, the dipping sauce that goes along with makes it, in my opinion.
I’m big on appetizers and I’m huge on dipping sauces, so it’s no surprise that I fell head over heels in love with that bloomin’ onion dipping sauce. It has a nice kick and is a perfect vehicle for shoveling in piece after piece of battered, fried onion. It takes 5 minutes to make and is a must if you’re going to make onion rings at home!
Stay tuned for an awesome (and easy!) homemade onion ring recipe tomorrow!

Can you do without the horseradish or is it a must?Â
Hi Katherine, It definitely adds to the overall flavor but it would still be good without it.
My husband is very picky about onion ring sauce and he loved it so much better than anything he’s ever had!!!! Love when I can win him over! Thank youÂ
Great sauce for lots of things! Â I did add a tablespoon of Siracha. Â We like it spicy and deepens the color.Â
Super sauce! Savory & flavorful. And because I’d love to enjoy this often, without as much guilt, I switched the mayo out & replaced it with plain Greek yogurt. Besides slashing fat, it adds protein & the flavor isn’t altered (according to my tastebuds… I’ve got the hyper-sensitive buds that lead to overeating all my favorite foods… hence the yogurt modification!). You can even do 1/2 mayo + 1/2 yogurt for a thicker, still-healthier option. Today I used it as a dip for some GF chicken tenders. Thank you for the recipe, my family goes nuts for this stuff!
Really close, but I would recommend a splash (Around 1/2 teaspoon) of lemon juice.
How spicy is this?
Hi Kim, I find spiciness to be totally based on individual taste. I would give it a medium-low on the spiciness scale, but some people are more sensitive to spice than others.
Made this tonight to go with some homemade onion rings and it was a hit! Just the right amount of spicy. This will definitely be on a regular dipping sauce rotation! Thanks for a great recipe!
This sauce is wonderful!! Great with onion rings. 😀
Yum! I love recreating restaurant favorites at home!

There is a pin button right underneath the recipe. Pretty easy ;)
Use google chrome, it has an extention for pintrest that you can click and will bring up a screen of items you can pin. I had no problems pinning, so I think this is user error.
