Friday Things #380
1. After-dinner snuggles with my girl 💖
2. Is there anything sweeter than watching a little babe sleep? ❤️️
3. Joseph is as obsessed as ever with racing and this year he’s gotten into Indy racing, on top of the Formula One he’s been watching and loving for a couple of years. He is learning the drivers’ names and just yesterday asked me and my husband if we could “send a Tweet to Scott Dixon and invite him over for hot dogs and coffee” Kids seriously say the funniest stuff (which I actually never believed until I had kids of my own!) 😂 Another one from this week… Dominic fell off a chair and was crying, I went over to make sure he was okay (he was) and I asked what he hit when he fell; his response, between sniffles: “The floor” 💗
4. I recently discovered the Aerie Gamechanger Tank and it has quickly become my favorite everyday, layering, sleep-in tank. They are so incredibly soft and a wonderful fit. I’m usually a small in most tops and bought mine in a medium and the fit is perfect.
5. After reading this article on Why Betty Crocker’s 1950s Cookbook Resonates With Me Now, I ran off to order myself a copy. Can’t wait to bust it open and cook and bake from my favorite era!
6. If you do Taco Tuesday, switch up the Mexican with my favorite beef enchiladas… they are such a massive hit every time I make them and readers rave!
7. Has anyone ordered things from Daily Harvest? I got one of their ads in the mail last week and I’m intrigued, but would love to hear from folks who have actually ordered from there.
8. So many great reminders >> 17 Insanely Easy Habits That Will Change Your Life (I really need to work on #14 and #16 😴)
9. We just started Wild Wild Country on Netflix a couple of nights ago and I can’t remember ever hearing details about this story before! Granted, I was a toddler, but still… we’re totally intrigued.
10. TGIF! Duke wishes you a fantastic weekend!
I got my copy of the classic Betty Crocker Cookbook today. I grew up in the 50’s and 60’s. I’m loving the nostalgia. Some of the recipes are a hoot.
Hello,
Superb reading matter as ever.
I was just wondering why I no longer receive emails from you. I have been signed up for years. When I first subscribed you had no children! Now you have 3 super ones.
Please let me know if something has changed with subscription.
I love the smoothies from Daily Harvest – my faves are the Mint+Cacao, Blueberry+Hemp, Chocolate+Blueberry (for a decadent treat), and Carrot+Cinnamon (in winter – tastes just like carrot cake). The lattes are really good, too.
Daily Harvest has been great! During SIP it’s like the only way I get vegetables at lunch time. I pair the bowls with either Trader Joe’s meatballs or scrambled eggs
The bites are good too. Smoothies are delish but I don’t get these as often these days
Also for friends who live far away, this is a great gift for new moms

Michelle,
Thank you for sharing this post with us all. Your family is so sweet and beautiful. I laughed so hard when you shared Dominic’s response of “the floor.” It really doesn’t get better than that does it? Have a a wonderful weekend. Stay healthy and be well.
I have my Great Aunt’s Betty Crocker cookbook. I just looked and the copyright says 1969, so I know it’s pretty old. The cover is pulling away so I’ll need to tape it back up. I still use it to this day for many tried and true baked goods. It’s a little slice of food history really those old recipes…and it reminds of my Grandma who was my Aunt’s sister.
I too love that hand made Afghan on your baby boy’s bed. Such a sweet picture of Dominic sleeping so peacefully on those crisp clean sheets. And gotta love that big bright eyed doggie smile of handsome Duke. His face happy doggie face says it all..that “I am so loved!”😊
Have a good weekend. Gorgeous here in CA. Low 80’s and clear skies. Enjoying this cooler weather for sure.
Love your Friday posts!
Have done Daily Harvest and love it. Its such a great way to have a healthy bowl of veggies, and eat a bit cleaner every now and then. Usually get an order of 25 bowls/smoothies three or four times year. Good treat and food quality is top notch.
(PS–another great old cookbook is the Better Homes and Garden one!)
I have my Grandmother’s copy of the Betty Crocker. I love seeing the her handwritten comments in the margin.
I am 92 almost 93 and enjoy your posts, recipes, pictures and all but mostly the love of your family so rare these days but brings back so many memories of me and mine enjoy them they will be grown before you know it
Love the picture of your sleeping son. Mine is 6 years old and I can stand and watch him sleep for what seems like hours. Have a lovely week end and thanks for sharing!
I am envious ( in a kind way) of your daughter
‘s hair. My great granddaughter is 2 1/2 years old and gives the phrase “bed head” a whole new meaning. Her hair is pretty much the same way all day as it is when she gets up. It looks like it was combed with an egg beater, and don’t even think about touching it. I know it will eventually settle into some semblance of a traditional look but in the meantime I will enjoy our Facetime and videos her mommy posts on Facebook.
i love your son’s crocheted afghan…..did you make it????
My aunt made it! :)
Michelle, love all the pics of your kiddos. Excellent article on Betty Crocker Cookbook, it resonates with the times right now. I have their Betty Crocker Cooky Book,I should look through and make something from it. I will be reading the article about habits to change in my life…definitely can use some improvement! Happy Friday.
I LOVE the picture of Dominic sleeping! I remember when my kids were that age, & I would always check on them before going to bed-just loved watching them sleep, so sweet.
We watched Wild, Wild Country back in March. Oh my gosh, it’s crazy! And it gets weirder & weirder. Cannot believe this happened in that small Oregon town.
Oh- I remember the other week, you mentioned or asked about what recipes people are making. I think you’ve posted recipes from Dinner at the Zoo. before.
Well I made her shrimp fajitas the other week, & it was super easy & tasty. She’s got a real easy chicken taquitos recipe as well-instructions for both fried & baked. Delicious, & they re-heat really well in the toaster oven.
Have a great weekend!
