Friday Things #447
1. I found these two like this in Isabelle’s room on Sunday morning ❤️
2. Dominic BEGGED me to let him help clean the bathrooms the other day while Isabelle was at school. He literally sang songs and had a huge smile on his face the entire time 😍
3. Looking for recommendations on good, basic t-shirts that could be worn alone with jeans or as layering pieces. Give me your favorites!
4. While I was driving this week, Eric Clapton’s “Wonderful Tonight” came on the radio. I bet I haven’t heard that song in nearly 20 years… it was on regular rotation at high school dances and it took me BACK, oh my goodness.
5. And on that note, do certain old songs immediately remind you of someone? One of my best friends in high school and I keep in touch super sporadically, and months upon months could pass between texts, but then one of us might hear a song on the radio and text each other instantly. Big-time memories of sitting on bedroom floors recording songs off the radio onto cassette tapes 😉
6. Do you make mac and cheese for Thanksgiving? It’s not something that has ever been part of our family’s menu, but my slow cooker macaroni and cheese and Chrissy Teigen’s Mac and Cheese are always super popular this time of year!
7. Who has tried chili crisp? I’m seeing it mentioned everywhere and wondering if it lives up to the hype. If you use it, what do you put it on?
8. This week after watching Yellowstone (💛), we watched a TV miniseries on Amazon Prime, “A Confession”. It’s based on a true story of a girl’s disappearance in England; it was heartwrenching but incredibly good!
9. A quick note that Friday Things will be on hiatus next week for the Thanksgiving holiday, but will be back the following week to celebrate the first Friday in December :) Have a fabulous holiday week!! 🦃
10. TGIF! An all-girl couch snuggle 💖
Duluth T-shirts
Absolutely LOVE Friday things.
Love Chili Crisp. Trader Joe’s has the best one for a great price. Put it on everything- Also love your site. Enjoy your family, and Happy Thanksgiving !!
I didn’t grow up with mac and cheese at Thanksgiving, but I love mac and cheese at ALL times. :D As for chili crisp, my hubby and I ADORE it! We’ve only tried the one from Trader Joe’s, but we’re definitely hooked. It’s a quick and easy way to add spice when a new recipe needs some kick. I especially love it on fried eggs.
Your first baby looks so grown up in that first picture.
I was in choir in high school & a group of us toured England & Scotland and gave concerts in various towns. We even made a couple of recordings. My best friend & I have kept in touch and when she came to lunch a while back, I had one of the records cued up to “Hello Dolly” and it started playing as she came in the door. Even though it’s been over 40 yrs we started singing along like it was yesterday. Great music memories.
Love seeing the kindness your kids display.
Have a very very happy Thanksgiving!!
This is our chili crisp:

My husband thinks it’s a cure for plain steamed broccoli. It’s great on sandwiches, eggs, and just about anything you can think of.
We sampled a lot of different ones and this was our favorite. Some of them say they have a certain funkiness, of which we were not fans. It’s not too hot and the almond crisp bits stay crunchy to the last spoonful.
We do NOT serve Mac ‘n’ Cheese on Thanksgiving! Totally unnecessary!!
Have a good one!
I love the pictures of you and your children.
Happy Thanksgiving to you and your beautiful family.
Wishing you a Happy Thanksgiving! Thanks for all the wonderful recipes!
Loved “A Confession”! Happy Thanksgiving!!
Is Joseph reading “Pumpkin JacK’ to Isabelle? I love that story. It is such a great lesson on how nature recycles to make way for new growth each spring.
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
Adorable pic of you and your girl, those are the best of times…………………..hold on tight, they go so fast.
I make your gravy recipe, a couple of years ago I threw top portion of recipe in the crock pot on low for the day, while at work. strained all the parts out that evening and allowed the broth to cool. Just a help in making things easier!!!!
Love Chili Crisp. It is spicy but I think you could put it on a shoe and it would taste good. LOL
Love reading your post every Friday. Thanks for sharing. I’m a big T-shirt person and these are my favorite’s. I get them from a Florida store called Bealls and they have Florida themes on most of them. But they are the most comfortable soft fabric and have lasted for years. Don’t lose their shape and wash well. The brand is called Life is good. They have all different one. I thought this one was cute cause I’m a dog lover. Love your dogs. Here is the link:

Let me know what you think. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving and cant wait to see your Pics. Sherri
Your all-girls snuggle reminds me of our ‘group hugs’ when my nieces were little. 😊
Lands End tees are good and I hear that Madewell tees are, in fact, made well, lol.
Pic of you with your girls is precious! As for tees, I bought a bunch of short sleeved and long sleeved ones from Gap and Banana Republic within the last couple months. A lot of different colors in various sizes at reasonable prices. Watch for sales, which is what I did.
Duluth Trading Company has grey ladies tshirts especially the ones that actually stay down. Long sleeved are wonderful this time of year and they have for the tall ladies! Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!!
I have made your slow cooker mac and cheese at Thanksgiving for the past few years now! Soooo good!
I /we were incredibly disappointed in David Changs chili crisp. I was on the waiting list early in the pandemic & was making Chinese food at home couldn’t wait to get it. It was pricey and the flavor was spicy but we didn’t get the hype. Maybe it was just a bad batch the jar itself was a mess quality control wasn’t great.
Looking forward to hearing recommendations for T-shirts . Be careful the new style seems to be boxy at least for 5’2” me with boobs it’s not a good look
Hope you and your family have a wonderful thanksgiving. I’m thankful for bloggers like you especially you who write from the heart and love pups like so many of us do.
If you’re looking for lightweight basic tees, I highly recommend the Sonoma Goods for Life tees from Kohl’s. They have a slightly scooped neck and a tapered hem, don’t get all wrinkly, and — best of all — they’re super cheap! I’ve been wearing them on repeat all summer.
My favorite t-shirts are from Lands’ End – the relaxed Supima cotton and relaxed cotton. They come in short sleeves, long sleeves, v-neck, crew neck, mocks AND lots of color options.
Cute all girl snuggle. We don’t have mac n cheese at Thanksgiving. Yes, certain songs bring back memories and also remind me of my teenage/college years. Kids are looking great. It’s wonderful that Dominic wanted to help clean, he’s noticing what you do for them and I personally think all children should have household chores from an early age. Have a great Thanksgiving with your family.
I really like LL Bean cotton tees. I have tried chili crisp and it really adds a nice depth of spice and a bit of crunch. You can use it on everything but I especially like it on Thai food. Love your Blog, especially Friday Things!
Basic Ts – Ll Bean and Land’s End are both great choices.
WONDERFUL photo of your oldest reading to your youngest and wonderful ALL girls snuggle!!!
Happy Thanksgiving!
Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours!
L. L. Bean T’s are amazing- so many styles & colors; great fit. Enjoy every one of your posts.
Happy Thanksgiving to you and your beautiful family, Michelle!!!!
My go-to’s for basic T’s are Athleta and Banana Republic Factory! Gap Factory also has some great tunic length one’s if you are looking for something with longer length.
Wonderful children. I have missed seeing pictures of them. Have a lovely Thanksgiving.
