Friday Things #478
1. Dominic completed another cycle of immunotherapy and low-dose chemotherapy last week. It was one of the better weeks he has ever had of this treatment; we were grateful that he wasn’t too sick and too knocked out most of the days and even asked to go to the playroom multiple times. We will head to New York next week for a new set of scans… as we do with each and every scan, we are praying that they are finally clear, but just hope that there is continued improvement 🙏🏻

2. The kids did a tennis clinic this week! It was fun seeing them learn something new; they all had a good time and want to play more 😊

3. Can we talk about thinning hair? My hair has been thinning since last summer, and I assumed that it was just the stress of Dominic’s situation. My hair stylist also mentioned that they are finding a connection between thinning hair and having had the ‘rona, which I had in January 2022, so maybe I got a one-two punch?! In any case, has anyone been down this tried and found something that helped? I tried biotin vitamins, but they don’t seem to have done anything. I know there are some specialty products and shampoos, and some other types of vitamins. Who has recommendations?!
4. I wanted to pass along that for Joseph’s first communion, we got him a custom-made rosary that was just beautiful. The woman who made it is local and also has an Etsy shop. We were so thrilled with it and I wanted to share in the event someone else is looking for a special rosary.

6. If you are celebrating Father’s Day this weekend, what are you cooking or baking? I love a homemade coconut cream pie or no bake heavenly Oreo dessert as dessert options 😋
7. This may be old news, but have you heard of or tried Rakuten? You use an extension on your browser, and anytime you shop on a participating website, you earn cash back (real, actual cash!). Sometimes it’s just a few dollars, but depending on the deals, you can sometimes get 10-20%, which is enormous! If you want to try it, you can sign up here. If you use a desktop computer, once you are signed up and have the browser extension, you don’t have to do anything… if you are on a participating website, a little box will show you the cash back, and you click to accept.
8. I love this list! >> 100 Simple Ways to Immediately Improve Your Life
9. Over the last couple of weeks, we’ve been watching McDonald & Dodds on BritBox. It’s a British crime drama, but not terribly heavy and an easy watch.
10. TGIF! This sweet boy has a BIG birthday in a couple of weeks! 🎉

I also had that problem, I’ve been taking collagen peptides vital proteins. I add the powder to my coffee in the morning, can’t taste a thing. I believe it’s helping and my nails are stronger too. My cousin used it during her chemo and she swears it helped her keep her hair.
Would love to hear if you trial any hair products or solutions and the results. I’m having a similar experience and have blamed stress and getting older!
Sending prayers for Dominic.
I have recently started using the Harklinikken shampoo. You can take their Hair Assessment online versus going to one of their locations.
Hi, I sure hope Dominic’s scans come out clear. I wanted to let you know about somethings I’ve tried for my thinning hair. Yes, Biotin can only do so much. I tried Nutrafol, it worked great but it was just too expensive for me to continue using it for the rest of my life :/
So next I tried Kintsugi Nourishing Hair Complex it works well too and is half the price at $49.99 a month. Both these products are online.
I hope you find something that works for you.
All my love to you and your family.
My hair has been thinning too. I think it’s from stress. My husband almost died a few months ago (ICU, rehab, recovering at home, etc.) so I’ m pretty sure that’s what it’s from. I am trying the biotin vitamins too. I am keeping your family in my prayers. I pray the scans will show continued improvement. 🙏❤
My sister had thinning hair for about a year. Went to dermatologist and they couldn’t find a reason. She wasn’t aware that she had ‘Rona . . . but might have, I suppose. In any case, she tried shampoos, and other things. Nothing helped, but in a year’s time, it all started coming back and now she’s back to a full head of hair. Hang in there!
I recommend visiting your dermatologist to check your hair. It could be stress, diet, a number of things. When my derm checked my blood, I was low in iron, so now I take a supplement. She did recommend a couple product lines, Seen and Virtue. I haven’t tried them yet. Good luck and best wishes all goes well with Domenic!
May the Lord continue to bless your
Family Michelle❤️ Hair loss is a tough
one. Diet made a huge difference for me.
Almonds, pecans, and lots of seeds helped. Eat unsalted raw varieties. They are great toasted on stove top. Try and eat fresh citrus for Vitamin C. Clean hair and a healthy diet grew new hair twice! Fresh green veges help too🤗
Thank you for sharing the Rosaries! They are beautiful and I will keep them in mind for when my Littles receive their First Communion.
Michelle, We’re keeping Dominic,
aka Super Hero in our prayers and your beautiful family! My hair is thinning from the stress I’ve been under! I was glad to read all the information your fans sent you! Love seeing your pictures of your precious 3! May your week ahead be filled with healing blessings and a fun Father’s Day!
Hi Michelle I wanted to suggest Mielle rosemary mint oil for hair loss. I saw a segment with Bobbie Thomas on the Today show about hair loss and bought it for my daughter who has alopecia. While it didn’t quite work for her, I started using it too since I noticed thinning from stress and I saw much improvement. I put it on for about ten or fifteen minutes before I wash my hair. I have a lot of new hairs coming out. It does take time, but if consistent it works.
Try Mane Magic from organic olivia. It really is incredible for hair growth!
I have used Rakuten (formerly Ebates) since 2009, and I have gotten back a total of $4,776. I mostly shop online, so I always go through Rakuten to make my purchases. It certainly has paid off for me.
I had thinning hair, likely due to aging. My dermatologist prescribed finasteride – it won’t help you regain the hair loss, but will stop it in its tracks. I’ve been taking it for a year – zero side effetcs – and my hair has stayed the same, no further thinning. Hope that helps!
I am so glad that this weekend column has returned—it has indeed been missed. I have always found your family comforting in a sometimes crazy world.
Without question – having through a variety of serious various medical ‘happenings’ – breast cancer/Afib (still there now under control)/mega stroke no talking or walking – 2 yrs. recovery – don’t talk about them but want you to know some of what I went through and experienced how huge a loss of hair – I began some years ago – going thru many products to grow hair back – none worked – tons and tons of it out there – then this one did – still today the best above all else for me – Keranique – takes maybe a month – maybe 6 weeks to start – but all my hair (lost a lot) grew back and loss stopped – https://keranique.com/ – 4 products a must – regular $114.95 – save $65 starting – $49.95 with several great bonuses.

Am a Grandmother – 3 angels born some years ago – high teens – so my heart got grabbed when I first saw about precious Dominque – will write another email tomorrow what I learned years ago exactly how to deal with you know Who – on the chatting side – not just the prayer side – kinda both :)
Hi Michelle! Have you had your thyroid checked? Thyroid disease can cause hair loss/thinning. I have Hashimoto’s and have lost about half of my hair twice. Although it has mostly grown back, it’s very thin compared to what it used to be. IF you have thyroid disease, the sooner you are diagnosed, the better. Hopefully that’s not the issue and some of the suggestions will work for you!
I lost at least 75% of my hair the first three months of 2022 and what remained was scraggly and dead looking. I’m post-menopause so it had been slowly thinning anyway. This was terrifying, much more stressful than my recent bout of Covid previous to that. I used everything mentioned in these comments: Biotin, collagen, D3 in addition to the supplements I’ve been taking for years. Plus, oodles of patience.
On the advice of a clerk at Ulta, I began using Nioxin 4 Shampoo & Conditioner and always gently massaged my scalp when shampooing with a “Diane Shampoo Massage Brush, Coral” that costs $5.20 on Amazon.
My dermatologist was no help. I am thrilled to say that something/or all things worked. My hair has recovered almost completely, it is shiny, it is healthy. There are still small areas that have not grown to the length of the rest, but I am thrilled to have my pre-Covid-stress hair back! Good luck!
Hi Michelle,
Check out this link I found on Pinterest for your hair…https://oneessentialcommunity.com/diy-hair-growth-tonic/
So glad for how well Dominic is doing!
I make my own Mermaid Spray. Different recipe, but I highly recommend.
I saw a dermatologist about my thinning hair. At that time it was stress. She said there’s nothing I can do but wait. I did and faked “zen” and my hair started growing back. Then I got covid and now it’s falling out again. I’d see a dermatologist because they can figure out the reason. If it’s stress or covid, waiting is probably the only option. Otherwise they might take a biopsy and see what’s going on. I need to go back to faking zen and see if that helps!
Hi Michelle, continued prayers for clear scans for Dominic or significant improvement. But as God says, ask big so hopefully clear scans.
As for your thinning hair, I too experienced that. You will be shocked how many women do! I would def say yours is from stress and Covid sure doesn’t help. I spent a small fortune on products before finding a solution. Note: please stay away from Keronique or anything with minoxidil. Here is what I used:
1. Try to not wash your hair everyday. Use dry shampoo if you need some body.
2. Wash your hair and condition with Nioxin #6. Use continuously as it will take a couple months to see regrowth.
3. Use Peter Lamas hair solutions. It’s a serum you can get at Whole Foods or Amazon. Use every night. It’s a dropper applicator so use a full applicator on the areas you are seeing the most thinning. You can use more if needed. This regimen truly worked for me. But you have to be consistent and be patient. I hope it works for you b/c seeing hair in the drain and in your brush is indeed stressful.
God Bless!
Thanks for all your tv recommendations- we love British crime shows. They do have a thing for cutting off fingers don’t they??? 😂
Still praying for the day that all this is behind Dominic and he can lead a healthy happy life without treatments and scans. He will remain on my prayer list until we get the all clear.
I enjoy your recipes and stories of the kids……..and the dogs!
My daughter has been losing her hair and after trying biotin and eating a lot of salmon it didnt work. She went to a hair specialist that took her blood and injected her head.
She also took nutrofol and put on some kind of cap from the dr.
She went once a month 3 times and she said she sees a difference in her hair
