The Weekend Dish: 11/11/2017
Happy Saturday!
It got seriously brrrrrrrrr cold where we live yesterday, and we even saw some snow flurries! Joseph immediately asked to go in his sled, so we had to break the news that there needed to be a few inches of snow on the ground first. Can’t wait to take the boys out to play in the snow!
How is your weekend shaping up? My husband and I are headed to Baltimore for a wedding, and it’s the first time we’ll be leaving the boys overnight (well, aside from leaving Joseph when I went into labor with Dominic!). I’m sure they won’t spend a second missing us, as they’ll be too busy having fun with all of their grandparents! But I secretly hope they miss us just a bit ;-)
(Side note: I had THE WORST TIME finding a dress to wear. I’m currently 18 weeks pregnant, which means my belly is too big for my regular clothes, but not big enough to really fill out maternity dresses to the point of looking nice and cute, ugh!)
Tell me about YOUR weekend! What do you have planned?
As always, you’ll find a recap of what was posted to the site this week, the most shared recipes, my Sunday dinner menu, and recipes I’ve bookmarked from other blogs. Enjoy!

Hello!! Can you please post your thanksgiving menu?! With links to recipes you are using. It would help us out a ton!!
Hi Ria, I haven’t finalized it yet, but will definitely do so!!
I noticed in the picture of your shopping cart that you have Diet Rite. PLEASE don’t drink diet sodas, especially during pregnancy!! I don’t mean to sound preachy, but it is so much worse for you than the regular stuff. And with a little one developing inside you, you want to give her only the best.
The question is which is worse for anyone…lots of sugar or artificial sweeteners. Â Diabetics can’t tolerate the sugar and there is a risk of developing gestational diabetes while pregnant which is not good for mom or baby. Â The amount of artificial sweetener in a diet soft drink is safe.
Why  don’t you just drink water, or if you must have a carbonated beverage seltzer water.  There are many different flavored, and or plain seltzer water in your grocery store.
See my reply above; the Diet Rite is for my husband, he drinks it, I don’t. I do drink water, lots of it.
My husband drinks Diet Rite, I don’t. Not everything in the cart is for me ;-)
Brrr indeed!  I live smack dab in the middle of Canada & iwe woke up to a harsh north wind that made the already cold temperature feel like -20 F!!  Today is Remembrance Day in Canada so we are en route to a service in my Dad’s small town.  My husband is a 20 year veteran of the airforce so I am extra proud to stand beside him today.
Our Thanksgiving has long passed so your mashed potatoe recipe  will get saved for Christmas.  My mom past away in September so I’ll be in charge of this year’s Christmas dinner.  Looking forward to adding this to my family’s table.
Thank you for introducing me to Yellow Bliss road.  Molasses Snickerdoodles are my son’s favourite cookies so i’m excited to try the bar.
Enjoy the wedding!
It must be a weekend for weddings. I was just on Sally Quinn’s site…Sally’s Baking Addiction…and she mentioned she and her husband are attending a wedding this weekend. I believe she lives in the Baltimore area…perhaps two of my favorite bloggers will be at the same event! Have a great time.
For the next time you need party clothes. A friend mentioned years ago, that she buys a size or two up from her regular-size clothing since the maternity wear was too big at the time. Have fun at the wedding!
I feel for you Michelle – I’m currently 17 weeks pregnant and the in-between stage is really difficult to dress for! Good luck with the dress!
