The Weekend Dish: 8/26/2017
Is it REALLY the last weekend of August? That seems absurdly impossible because the 4th of July was just, like, two weeks ago, right!? While time continues to hurtle along, I’m enjoying the fact that the temperature never even hit 70 yesterday and on my 10-day forecast there is not a single high above 76… my weather nirvana. I’ll be over here sipping hot chocolate and curled up in my fleece blanket, ha!
As always, you’ll find a recap of what was posted to the site this week, the most shared recipes, my Sunday dinner menu, and recipes I’ve bookmarked from other blogs. Enjoy!

Better-Than-Brownies Chocolate Cookies – These are a chocolate-lover’s dream! Dense and fudgy, just like a brownie, with the portability of a cookie!
Cinnamon Coffee Cake with Cream Cheese Icing – This old-fashioned cinnamon coffee cake is baked in a Bundt pan, full of cinnamon swirls, and topped with a simple cream cheese icing. Easy and delicious!
Friday Things – More allergy tests, the eclipse, dorm rooms, and new TV shows…

My Saturday morning NEEDS these egg & cheese hash brown waffles.
Growing up, my mom often made those rice packets with different flavors (you know which ones I’m talking about?) as a side dish for dinner, and my favorite was always the mushroom version. HELLO! I can now make my very own homemade mushroom rice!
Chocolate zucchini bread is a superb way to use up that zucchini!
Have a delicious weekend!
Living at the beach in Southern California we don’t get seasons but for 63 years I never have. Guess I don’t know what I’m missing. We are do for a heat wave starting tomorrow. It will be in the 90’s here at the beach. Â So no baking for me and lot’s of slow cooker recipes.Â
I love your recipes BEB and look forward to seeing the boy’s on Friday’s. Please keep up the incredible website you do!
Wow – you go to the doctor & they give you Nutella! He’ll be eager to return. Glad he’s outgrowing some of his allergies.
Haha if you need to get tested for hazelnuts and they don’t give whole nuts to toddlers, then they get to eat Nutella :)
I just love your blog. I’ve already tried the first 2 recipes this week….fantastic directions and superb taste! I’m saving the cake recipe for tomorrow’s dinner. Your Friday and Saturday stories are always so much fun to read plus I appreciate the recipes from other cooks/bakers that you found interesting. (I have to try those waffles.) Have a great weekend with your family and enjoy the 70 degree weather while it lasts. (Praying for those in Texas affected by the hurricane!) Thank you for all you do to present such a creative and informative blog. You are AWESOME!
Thank you so much for the incredibly sweet comment :) Have a great week!
Summer really does slip away so quickly, doesn’t it? And I really love the Fall, but it also is a reminder of what comes after that!
