Friday Things
1. Our little man turned 7 weeks old on Monday… I cannot believe how time is flying. It’s so cliche and everyone says it will happen, but the last seven weeks have been a total blur. I almost want to rewind and start over just so I can experience everything all over again. I don’t want him to get any bigger, but I also am so excited to see him grow and learn. So bittersweet!
2. I love that it’s light so much later now that the clocks have changed! However, I hate how dark it is in the morning… it makes me feel so lazy and like my day shouldn’t start until about 9am. Also, by the time I went to bed on Sunday night I felt like I hadn’t slept in days. I’m not sure if that was from changing the clocks or having a 7-week old. Combination?
3. You may remember me telling you back in the fall that my dentist had discovered my very first cavity. She said it was tiny and could wait to be filled until after I had the baby. I made an appointment to go last Saturday and was dreading it for two days. Like, seriously terrified. That morning, my husband told me that I had made it through labor and a c-section, which made me feel better. As it turns out, the whole filling the cavity was seriously NO.BIG.DEAL. Much better than I had anticipated. Now let’s hope that’s the first and last cavity!
4. This story about a blind Golden Retriever that works as a therapy dog warms my heart.
5. I snatched up some Girl Scout cookies while I was at the grocery store last weekend and I’m pretty sure that one box each of Samoas and Tagalongs is not enough. We’re plowing through them! (This could be directly related to my inability to lose all of my pregnancy weight, but I’m going to ignore that for the time being.)
6. Love all of these options for wall art arrangements. One of these days I’m going to get pictures printed and put together a gallery wall!
7. I can pretend to live in the 1950’s with this list of 17 Vintage Hairstyle Tutorials. So many of these are gorgeous and chic… I need to practice doing my own hair!
8. Even though we’re on the brink of spring, I’m dying for an excuse to throw a winter party and make this slow cooker hot cocoa.
9. Do you have any plans for celebrating St. Patrick’s Day? I’m dreaming of a fresh loaf of Irish soda bread slathered with butter.
10. TGIF! Einstein and Duke wish you an awesome weekend!
Ur little guys is so cute,um shw u spend the whole day just starring at him
Hi there,
I stumbled upon your blog while I was searching for a recipe and when I saw the picture of your 2 Goldens, I just had to comment. You Golden who is on the left in the picture looks just like my angel Samantha. Unfortunately she crossed over to the Rainbow Bridge almost 3 years ago. Still miss her terribly.
You have a lovely blog and I will be checking back on recipes.
YD
Michelle, love your “Friday Things” every week. Yours is the only “food blog” that I still read when it’s not food-related. I love hearing about Einstein and Duke, and your new little guy is seriously adorable!
Your dogs are so sweet!

Sorry about the two-parter. Was having trouble getting whole comment on there. Its kinda long. I do apologize.
Yours is an itty bitty right now and when you wrap em up (swaddle them) they are a “little baby burrito”.
Enjoy EVERY second while they’re young cause it really does go by SOOO fast! Mine is 16 and I can still remember bringing him home from the hospital like it was yesterday!
And all your kids are adorable by the way… and yes your furry family members are kids too. I don’t care what people say, they are just as much a family member as anyone in the family (in some cases more so! am i right?)
Came to your site for white chocolate macadamia nut cookies. So here I go!
I promise I’ll come back and report how they turned out and how quickly they disappeared in my group/class.
Thanks for your website and taking the time to update us on how things are going now that you are busy being a new mom!
p.s. remember to take time to take care of YOU also. Lots of new moms forget that so just reminding. You deserve it!
Wow! ❤️Such a cutey!!! ❤️❤️❤️I LOVE babies and I have names I call em as they go thru their growing stages: itty bitty, little munchkin (walking and kinda talking, still have their ADORABLE baby face) , and little person (when they are walking, talking, and have *gasp* their own opinions…you’ll know when this happens when you set out what they are going to wear after a bath or for the day and they walk up to your selections and say, ” I don’t wanna wear that!”
Love the baby and puppy pictures! They make me smile. Took you nine months to gain the weight, give it nine months to come off before you stress about it! I’m looking forward to some pie today for “Pi” day and probably corned beef for St Paddy’s day. Have a great weekend!
Michelle,
Your boys are adorable (human and puppies). I haven’t been pregnant but it’s tough to try to lose weight while caring for a newborn. Enjoy him and don’t stress about the weight, it will come off in time. Have a great weekend. Enjoy the warmer weather.

Your little man is adorable. I would follow the suggestion about having a nap when he does…you can never get enough sleep IMHO (I’m an Olympic sleeper!). I wish we could get the kind of Girl Scout cookies I had as a child in Canada here in Australia. We only get 2 kinds plus minis, no icing, very plain. Loved the video of Smiley.
Hey,
what a handsome young man you have there! We have a 7 month old girl, who is sleeping while I am surfing trough your page for what to bake tonight :)
Time flies when you are least expecting it…Daylight Savings is a horrible, horrible thing in the spring…lol….will probably just do a traditional St. Patty’s thing – corned beef, cabbage, potatoes and maybe something mint chocolate for dessert
Speaking of Irish Soda Bread, I attended a cooking demonstration class last night that had an Irish theme! We made Irish Soda Bread, Leek and Potato Soup with Aged Cheddar, Green Salad with Roasted Shallot Dressing, and Steak and Guiness Stew. SO good! Definitely put me in the St. Patrick’s Day mood!
Your son is beautiful and growing fast. My best advice to you is when he takes a nap, you tak a nap. If you don’t, you will never catch up on your sleep.
For some reason that phrase “little man” annoys the crap out of me – so grating. They’re not little men at all, they are babies. Ok, enough vent – the fact is that he is so beautiful – great photograph. Believe me you’ll love every stage, at each one you’ll be saying “I love this stage”. Well, maybe not toilet training. That’s a PITA.
That story about the Golden Retriever is so sweet! My cousin is training her 4-month-old Golden to be a therapy dog. She actually just found out that he has HOD, a painful condition that could leave him with bowed legs as he grows older. The silver lining is that people with injuries will see this pup as having gone through his own trials; hopefully they can identify with him. :)
I too can relate to life going by way toooooo fast. We have two grown sons who I luckly was able to stay home and raise. Our Golden Retriever, Jake, completed our family. It does seem like time goes by in the blink of an eye, so enjoy EVERY minute of it. Even the not so good ones. Your family will be able to look back and laugh at a lot of them one day. I now get to look at your posts and relive my younger “mom” days:)
Thanks for the wonderful emails.
Your posts just make my day and are made even more wonderful with the birth of your son.
Thanks
Michelle, Your son is a cutie. Love seeing the pictures you post. My youngest will be 21 next week. Enjoy every bit and savor every moment.
One thing I told my wife after she had baby #2 is that she was being way too hard on herself about loosing the baby weight. I mean, You just had a baby 7 weeks ago, you can’t think the weight should come off. So I’m going to give you the same advice I gave my wife, enjoy that adorable baby and don’t worry about your weight!!! Women I find are SOOOOOO hard on themselves about weight.
Tom-RYG
You’re wife is so lucky to have a man like you!!!!!
Wonderful advice
Happy Friday, Michelle. I am in love with that Mickey Mouse blanket! It’s so cute. I need to make Irish Soda Bread as well. :D
Happy weekend, Michelle, to you and your family!
Enjoy everything!
Aww, your little guy is so cute! Mine is 6 weeks old today & I completely know what you mean about wanting to experience the past 6 weeks over but also to see him grow. And the time change is hitting me harder this year too. Losing an hour + losing several more hours every night with the baby does not leave much actual sleep time! Good luck with catching up on some sleep hopefully!
Awww, what a cutie you have!
Our little boys are just 6 days apart :-)
