See your family….just sit outside far apart. Life is too short.
**sigh** Actively social distancing from your family is a hard and loving practice that families are taking together to protect themselves and the well-being of the rest of people in society including you and your family member. Â Be well.
Michelle, I’m not trying to be controversial whatsoever, but I SO encourage you to hug your parents. Â Allow them and your children to hug each other. Â Go into their house for a visit. Â Have them into yours. Â This is your family. Â My mother-in-law is in a senior independent living facility which is a very different circumstance than your parents still living in their house, but it makes it so much easier for you to touch them and love on them. Â The residents where my MIL lives are not allowed visitors and they are not permitted to have family members pick them up for any reason including their medical appts. Â We haven’t seen her since February, which is a long time particularly considering we saw her weekly. Â My kids haven’t seen their grandma. Â She is 89 years old. Â Who know how much longer she may have to live. Â She is missing us terribly and we are missing her. Â Yes, we talk to her daily on the phone. Â But it’s not the same. Â Others whose parents are in this same boat are saying the exact same thing. Â Social distancing from one’s family is a travesty. Â The precious times and memories that we are missing. Â The family history that isn’t being passed on just by virtue of being together. Â We’re all missing so much that we take for granted and don’t even realize is happening.
