What I Bookmarked This Week
Recipes and posts from other blogs that I thought looked especially delicious and that I thought you would like, too:
I routinely ignored Butterfinger candy bars as a kid, but I’m pretty sure this Butterfinger lush dessert will make me a convert!
Popsicles for breakfast? Totally think that these milk and breakfast cereal popsicles qualify!
My sweet and salty taste buds are dying over these double chocolate dipped peanut butter stuffed pretzels.
Saving these chocolate chip shortbread cookies for my holiday baking; I’m sure December will be here before I know it again!
This chocolate stout cream pie with Irish cream whipped cream totally made the short list for my St. Patrick’s Day dessert.
Have a delicious weekend!
I just read your comment on the amazing chocolate cake, I just baked the one from Cooks Illustrated its totally like no other texture in chocolate cake. it uses a method I think they do in France whereby they add the butter in bits I have made the other recipes with the cocoa and buttermilk and the texture of this is not like any other cake. Its a bit time consuming but hubby really notices the difference it has cocoa powder and unsweetened . I think this is a French Method. the other yellow one in Cooks Illustrated was extremely dry. I noticed a lot of reviews for this cake. Its not 85 here in Florida so its not too bad to suffer in the kitchen..in the 70’s The Matilda cake is very similar to Ina Garten cake

What a truly gorgeous photo of you and Dominic…such love for his mommy
Thanks so much for including my Chocolate Stout Cream Pie in your bookmarked recipes! I hope you’ll enjoy it; my friends devoured it with no leftovers last year. :) I’m going to have to try your Guinness Beef Stew. It looks fantastic, and I love the sound of that sauce!
You’re welcome Amanda, it looks great!
Joseph and his raincoat . . . adorable! Dominic and Duke . . . adorable. A boy and his dog – they just go together. Your boys are precious. I wish for you that they grow up to be such kind-hearted happy men as they are now as little boys.
Graeters’s ice cream you have talked about so much that I finally broke and bought a pint of their coconut chocolate chip. I was so disappointed. Yes, there were large chunks of chocolate, but it was waxy and chewy and had a fake taste. The ingredient list divulged that it wasn’t chocolate, but rather carob. I also bought a pint of Talenti’s coconut chocolate chip gelato because I knew I’d want to compare. The chocolate is real in the gelato, crisp and not fake tasting. I really did want to like the Graeter’s as much as you do, but . . . . This is the first thing I’ve ever disagreed with you on in all these years I’ve been reading your blog.
And no, you’re not the only one to have not watched the Oscars. I don’t watch them either for the same reasons you don’t. Although I will watch some of the red carpet to see the dresses, but often times that part is even disappointing.
Enjoy a HEALTHY WEEKEND!
Hello,
I believe Graeters use only real Chocolate provided by a local chocolatier. The carob you are referring to is used as a stabilizing agent and helps make the ice cream have less ice crystals. You can go to their website and they have all the ingredients listed.
Hi Michelle, Aw bummed that you didn’t like Graeters! Although, it’s definitely real chocolate, I actually researched the exact kind that they used to try to buy some – it’s from a small-batch chocolatier. The ingredient list on the website does show chocolate chips (with real chocolate), but also carob bean gum, which is a thickening agent. BUT! Different strokes for different folks, right? I haven’t tried Talenti’s – I’ll have to pick up a pint and give it a try! Thanks for the inspiration to try something new :)
Tomorrow’s menu looks delish! We are going to my sister’s to celebrate my mom’s 72nd birthday – we are having BBQ and sides plus a chocolate cake …lol…gotta have the chocolate cake if you are in this family. Sounds like you are going to be busy cooking…have a great weekend
Happy birthday to your mom! And yes, chocolate cake, always!
