We are, as of today, THREE weeks away from Thanksgiving. What?! Where has this year even gone?! It’s flown by, for sure, but this is the start of my most favorite time of year. Nothing says Thanksgiving quite like PIE, right?! Whether your family bakes up pumpkin pie for an army, or you sprinkle in some pecan and apple, or go rogue with summer-themed pies… it’s  just not Thanksgiving if you don’t cap off the meal with a slice of pie!
To give you some menu inspiration, I’ve rounded up my favorite pies that are totally worthy of your Thanksging dessert table! Enjoy!

Q: What’s your favorite Thanksgiving Pie?
Mine? Pecan!

I am very traditional…my very favorite Thanksgiving pie is pumpkin!!! Altho talking just pie in general, I love them all!!!!!!! You just can’t go wrong with pie or dessert :)
I love America’s Test Kitchen’s (or Cook’s Country?) recipe for pumpkin pie that does not use candied yams. It’s very similar. Smooth and creamy!
Mine is Chocolate Pecan pie – YUM!
So much pie, so little room in my stomach!! The list I don’t like would be way shorter–apple & pumpkin (yes, I know, how very un-American!) My very favorites would be a toss up between coconut, chocolate, and pecan. My new Southern Living issue for November has a German Chocolate Pecan pie recipe that I’ll be making this year! Three in one–the trifecta!
I’m not a huge pumpkin fan, either. I’d pick a ton of other varieties first!
Pecan also!! I put halves on the top only of mine and love it with cool whip :)
My favorite pie was first made for me by my great grandma, Grape Nut pie. It’s a cream pie and the grape nuts are not crunchy. It’s delicious and brings back a lot of memories. Just last year my mom taught me how to make pie crust and this pie. It’s not Thanksgiving without it. I also love my mom’s pecan pie. It’s just so good. :)
Oh that sounds so interesting! My dad loved Grape Nuts!
My favorite pie has always been Chocolate Chess Pie. My mom always made it for my brother and me and it’s not Thanksgiving for me without it!
I’ve never had a chess pie… care to share your recipe?! You can post it here or email me!
Regarding Pie Crust Essentials–I’d like to suggest pie crust ring protectors. I’ve been using the same ones for over 20 years now. They are a life saver. Just position onto the pie before putting in the oven and that’s it. It stays on the entire time.
My outer crust is baked to the same shade of color and crisp as the rest of the pie. No pulling the pie out in a mad dash to cover w/aluminum foil to “save the crust” from burning during those last 20 minutes in the oven.
I noticed that Chicago Metallic has come out with a silicone adjustable protector. Haven’t tried that one…..because I’ve had so much success with the metal ones, no reason to switch.

I love your pie list. Going to give the Sweet Potato Pie a try this week. I adore Pumpkin Pie and make it on a regular basis in the Fall…but I DO love trying new recipes and I think this one is calling my name.
Thank you Michelle !!
Oh Brenda, You’re so right! I use one all the time, can’t believe I forgot to include it! I’ll add it to the post :) I do use the adjustable silicone and it’s just okay. I need to give the metal one a try!
I can’t say for the silicone ones, but I’ve been using my metal one for years and it is fabulous! My mother always made a ring of foil around hers–a real pain! I have recently found them for about $4 and with a nice heavy pie plate, they make a great wedding shower gift!!
I love them all, but if I had to pick one it would be Pumpkin. Specifically the recipe you listed above. It’s perfection…as is the crust recipe above. I’m looking forward to making it in a few weeks, and I’m really looking forward to eating it in a few weeks. It’s great for breakfast! ?
Mmmmm! I was raised with a huge pie spread every thanksgiving. These look great! Thanks for sharing.
